I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought of Gotham when I saw this. Very cool so far, though just seeing this tiny slice makes the angle disorienting.
We move in circles. Balanced all the while on a gleaming razor's edge.
A perfect sphere colliding with our fate. This story ends where it began.

On a side note: I can already imagine some people on the Internet calling BTV Behind the Fail if they dislike the song ::)

It wouldn't surprise me if the Majesty symbol is being projected onto the sky there, ala the Bat-signal.

The story of how the lights are failing and they need to dig up some complex theory to make it work again in desperation to call Batman    :loser:

I like the fact that the cover is simple (but still awesome  :tup ). The sun and planet alone are enough for my taste! I don't even need to look at anything else besides that beautiful majesty symbol. That's what really makes it great imo   :hefdaddy

By the way, there must be something seriously wrong with the projector, if the light despite being seen to be focalized into a beam to the sky, somehow manages to hit the viewer right in his face (notice the radial rays departing from the source) :D

I don't think it's a HUGE deal that he uses stock images and shit, but it's apparent that he doesn't put TOO much effort into DT's artwork, so I just hope he's not getting paid a boat load of money. If he was raking in the dough for these images, THEN I'd be upset. But I don't know how much he actually makes off of DT's artwork or whatever.

Honestly, didn't we have the stock image conversation the last time they released booklet art?

Do you honestly expect Syme to go to a city and project a light into the air with the Majesty symbol on it? Or to build a drive-in movie theater on the beach?

Or do you want him to draw/paint all these things? Then he probably wouldn't have time to work as much as he does and the band would have to pay him a lot more than they do now.
And if spirit's a sign,
Then it's only a matter of time

Stock Images are fine in small doses. I'd feel a bit bad if I used them habitually - and didn't put in much effort into my work and charged for it.

Album art is so much more special to me when it's painted or drawn, and not shopped together... Look at Haken's The Mountain, for example. It looks gorgeous. This looks so lazy that I can't begin to tell myself Mr. Syme cares about pride in his work or about DT's image to be completely honest.

Yeah but...clearly DT doesn't mind the finished product or they wouldn't keep using him. So which is more likely, the fact that the album art using existing images is something DT doesn't care about because it doesn't matter, or people like those in this thread overthinking it?

Totally going with overthinking it.

I wish DT did mind though. I'm surprised they don't go for a better artist/better images. I don't think they really mind what the album art looks like in any case, so long as they're in charge of the music.
