Hey guys, just a little update, I'll get about 4-5 posts in tomorrow, I had family over at my new apartment, orientation before classes begin Monday, and just some other stuff that kept me busy, so I'm sorry about the delay, seeing as I'm one to bellyache when others take a long time heh, but I promise to get the engine roaring again tomorrow! Thank you for the patience :)

Please accept this spaghetti as a personal apology for the delay

26. Periphery - Periphery II This Time It's Personal! (2012)

This was my Summer love of 2012. It was my playlist for driving around town, my playlist for going to the lake, quite simply, it did not leave my cd player much if at all. Everything about this album was what their first album wasn't, every single aspect was an improvement over the their debut, which on it's own is still a fantastic album. Spencer's vocals are the show stealer for me, with this album he wrote out all of his parts, compared to the debut where they were already written, and god damn does he dazzle. The music to boot is killer, perfectly displaying progressive djent metal at it's finest. Absolutely crushing, bombastic, and most importantly, heartfelt, this album just takes me to a happier place, and blows me away every time.

PII: This Time It's Personal! would definitely make my top 50 list if I were to put together a new one. For me it really is great beginning to end.

25. Master of Puppets - Master of Puppets (1986)

A landmark album for Thrash metal, Master of Puppets was one of my gateway albums into metal, and it's a big reason why I love so much metal these days. Every song is killer, and the band is in top form. Kirk Hammett can still belt out some fantastic solos ala "The Thing That Should Not Be", Lars does a good enough job, Cliff Burton does what he does best, and James Hetfield commands your attention with his powerful voice and plays some radtastic rhythm guitar. Not much to say, as pretty much anybody who enjoys metal knows about this album at the very least, and if for some reason you haven't listened to it yet, get the fuck on it.

Favorite Tracks: Master of Puppets, The Thing That Should Not Be, Welcome Home(Sanitarium), Orion

24. Mr. Bungle - Mr. Bungle (1991)

Let me start off by saying that the album cover is one of the creepiest things I've ever seen, along with the art inside the booklet. I was on one of my many adventures at Savers, looking for cheap paintings, pants, and other things, when I ventured into the music section on a whim. My friend pulled this out and commented on how weird the cover was and put it back, when I remembered hearing about them here, so I decided to pick it up. One of the best  surprises I've ever come across. My friend and I drove around getting down with the tunes, which were all sorts of creepy and delightful all at the same time. I didn't even fully realize it was Mike Patton handling the vocals, although I thought they sounded familiar. It's one of those albums where the cover art perfectly describes the feel of the music. In time I can easily see this album getting higher up, as it's a splendid, absolutely weird experience listen every single time!

23.Converge - Axe to Fall (2009)

One of the heaviest bands out there, Converge are one of those bands that you must be in the right mood to initially get into, but once you do get into them, you can never get enough of them. That particular mood needed is being pissed off and angry. I saw these guys back in '09 when they went on tour with Mastodon and Dethklok and hated them, and I never wanted to listen to them again. But luckily one of my internet buddies told me to not write them off so easily, and to give a chance. Well after a shitty day at school I was ready, and this album lopped my head off and fucked the gaping wound. Jane Doe is usually regarded as their opus, and there's no doubt that I love love love it, but Axe to Fall was my first, and it's a fantastic listen the whole way through!

Favorite Tracks: The whole thing, there's no stopping this album from finishing once it starts and each song is a perfect kick in the teeth or the perfect counterbalance to that.

Converge is one of the best bands around. Jane Doe and All We Love We Leave Behind are better though. IMO

Axe to Fall is still badass.

22. Cancer Bats - Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones (2010)

Fantastic Southern tinged hardcore from this fantastic band straight out of Canada. Cormier's vocals fit the music like a snug little glove, and the music is heavy, oh so deliciously heavy. If you're a fan of bands like Kvelertak, Black Breath, or Black Tusk, this band will treat you to some wonderful music!

Favorite Tracks: Sleep This Away, Trust No One, Doomed To Fail, Scared To Death, Snake Mountain, Sabotage(Beastie Boys Cover)

I hated, hated, hated Converge when I first listened to them, but now I actually like them, so don't write them off immediately.

I do think it's a waste that they have such good lyrics, but the vocals are largely indecipherable.

21. The Mars Volta - De-loused In A Comatorium (2003)

I first got into The Mars Volta through Octahedron, which is an amazing album, and slowly I went through their discography, finally arriving at this marvelous debut. The Mars Volta weave beautiful, gut wrenching vocal harmonies, and throw in amazing musicianship just because they can. For awhile, I could not stop listening to this album, hell their discography, as it was there for some times in my life when I wasn't feeling so perky. Not much to say really, other than some very odd progressive rock here that resides in it's own dimension.

Favorite Tracks: Son et Lumière+Inertiatic ESP, Roulette Dares (The Haunt of), Drunkship of Lanterns, This Apparatus Must Be Unearthed

20. The Dillinger Escape Plan - Option Paralysis (2010)

A band that take the term intense to a whole new level, The Dillinger Escape Plan leave their fucked up beauty at #20. An album that accompanied me through some tough times, Option Paralysis's spastic songs are laced with beautiful musicianship, and Greg's gnarly howl and soothing voice. Songs like "Widower" show a different side of TDEP, that I'd love to see more often, it's probably one of, if not my favorite song by them. If you're a fan of Converge, A Life Once Lost, or a fan of mathcore, this band put most other bands to shame, and simply put turn the volume up to what's thought to be impossible levels.

Favorite Tracks: Farewell,Mona Lisa, Gold Teeth On a Bum, Crystal Morning, Widower, Chinese Whispers

19. Pig Destroyer - Phantom Limb (2007)

Of grind royalty, Pig Destroyer take no prisoners, and get down and weird on Phantom Limb. An experimental album of sorts, Phantom Limb is longer than your typical grindcore album, it delves into the realm of sludge and doom, all the while maintaing that sense of urgency and unadulterated anger that grindcore is known for. Scott Hull's guitars are gnarly limbs slamming down on the listener, all the while J.R. Haye's vocals spit out vile poetry, appropriately mature compared to many other grindcore bands. The album also has some lovely John Dyer Baizley art for the cover, which is one of the reasons I went with this Pig Destroyer album. My theory of John Baizley art displayed on the cover usually means a great album has held up, and while I may come to enjoy Book Burner more in time, this is one hell of an album, a very different experience from the fucked up love affair his other band, Agoraphobic Nosebleed is.

Favorite Tracks: Rotten Yellow, Jupiter's Eye, Cemetery Road, Phantom Limb, Loathsome, Fourth Degree Burns, Waist Deep In Ash, The Machete Twins
