The new release of Lifting Shadows, The Authorized Biography Of Dream Theater, is now available to order!

Full details on the release - and details of the Pre-order discount - are now available over at

Publication will be in September but pre-ordered books will ship as soon as they are available.
This paperback edition is fully updated by Rich Wilson featuring new interviews with the band & others. It covers the departure of Mike Portnoy, the search for his successor and the band's spirited return.

Prior to today the 2nd edition webpage was out of stock.

That was always my plan - to keep the price as low as we could without compromising on the quality. This hopefully gives everyone the chance to read it who wanted to, but who might have been priced out by the higher prices of earlier editions.

If people could spread the word on Facebook or on any other prog sites, that would be hugely helpful too!!

I wish I could just get the "new" content. I bought the original, and v2 released after BCSL. Not sure I really want/need an entire new edition yet again, for only that tail end of content.

I guess I need to make a PayPal account at some point... I'll move in August/September, so I won't order this until I can be sure the book will arrive at my future address.

Same thing that happened to me with 2nd Edition - preorder unavailable. What do they do, print 12 each time? I've been dying to read this for years, can't afford the used copies floating around. Is there any chance there will be more available at some point? FFS.

Same, but thankfully I'm kinda over the point of fandom where I need *everything* that gets released DT-related...

The price is pretty good, though, so I dunno. Maybe I'll gift my previous addition to another fan, and check this one out.

First edition was a 2 book set (Images & Words)

Second edition was a single book, as is third edition.
