Classic Rock Vocal Showdown #9: Gramm vs Rodgers
« on: May 17, 2013, 09:01:20 AM »
Couple of 'meat-and-potatoes' rock vocalists here.  Certainly not the flashiest of frontmen, nor bands you'd consider in the 'elite' of the genre.  Just some good ole rock 'n' roll vocal deliveries and performances.  I've always been a fan of both bands, but in this case, I think Gramm has more vocal tools in his kit.

Two good vocalists, but I gotta go with Lou Gramm. Hot Blooded (live version). That is all.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Oh, that's a toughie. I'll go with Rodgers. His voice still sounds amazing. I've seen Bad Company's reunion concert on the music channel and I'm really impressed

Another good showdown; I'd go with Rodgers slightly.

Lou Gramm might be the most underrated vocalist in hard rock history. The man could wail.

Paul Rodgers > everyone else

Lou Gramm is awesome, but there is next to nobody that could match Paul Rodgers, for me.  All Right Now, Can't Get Enough, Shooting Star...  just amazing.

This is why I go into an absolute rage when I hear 5-Finger Dickpunch do "Bad Company".  Don't ruin Paul Rodgers songs.

Gramm. Could Rodgers sing Jukebox Hero? I don't think so

Doesn't really say much to me.  Sure, there's high notes in Jukebox Hero that would be tough for anybody to hit.  Be even if Paul Rodgers was perfectly able to sing it, it would just sound all wrong, just like Gramm singing All Right Now would seem odd.  To me, anyway.

:iagree:

Just because I have them squaring off against one another doesn't mean their styles or inventory should be comparable.  Could Daltrey sing Imagine?  Didn't think so... but Daltrey was the preferred vocalist in that matchup.

I'm not sure if he's actually a better singer or not, but I'm going with Rodgers as his music doesn't make me want to wretch.

Thought about going with Lou Gramm for a nano-second.  Then voted for Paul Rodgers.

Kelly Hansen, who is Lou Gramm's replacement in Foreigner is also an excellent vocalist.  I've seen them live twice now with Kelly fronting and both shows were outstanding.

I've seen some live clips, and I thought he sounded quite good too. I didn't realize until I looked up who he was that he was also the singer for Hurricane. Bonus!

Not to get off topic of course, since he's not the guy we're voting on. :P

A very good battle but I love Lou's voice.

Though his voice after the brain tumor, lost something.  I am glad he is still singing.

I've always appreciated Paul Rodgers, but Lou Gramm has always been a favorite of mine, even if Foreigner isn't the greatest band overall. Great voice.

I'm not the biggest fan of either one...but Lou Gramm is the superior singer.

Or maybe I'm just still mad at Paul Rodgers for ruining Queen.   :\
