All the dead air time during the beginning of 2112.

It's more of a personal thing for me, but..

synth intro...

bum bum.

2 seconds later

bumbum buuuum

bum

bumbumbum

bumbum

Ehhh, it doesn't really matter, but there's quite a bit of space between the beginning guitar notes.

And that's exactly what makes it good. The rests are as important as the actual notes there.
Hey dude slow the fuck down so we can finish together at the same time.

Exactly.

The beginning is awesome. Hell, the whole song is awesome.

Part of me wishes they would've added on another 39 seconds somewhere, but then again, this thread has a lot of great examples of what happens when things are added just to achieve a certain length.

It's not an epic but I could do without that big intro to Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies.

Porcupine Tree - Anesthetize - trim the ending or spin it off into its own song. It's good but it feels a bit divorced from the rest of the song.

Agree with you here. The first and second sections are incredibly good and very cohesive, but the end feels entirely like another song.

Used to not like the ending. Now it's my favourite part.

I love the ending of Anesthetize.
