No Prayer For The Dying - 1 October 1990
Bruce Dickinson - lead vocals
Dave Murray - guitar
Janick Gers - guitar
Steve Harris - bass guitar, backing vocals
Nicko McBrain - drums
(Michael Kenney - keyboards)
In early 1990 guitarist Adrian Smith left the band (who was unhappy with the new direction they took with this album), and was replaced by Janick Gers, former guitarist in Ian Gillan's solo band, and who also helped Bruce Dickinson with his first adventures as a solo artist the same year. This album has a more stripped-down sound than the previous two Maiden albums, with less keyboards and even a new singing style for Bruce who adopted a raspier style on this album and the follow-up Fear Of The Dark.
My first vote goes to Holy Smoke, never liked that one.
