I've never done it in my life. Not that I particularly care about my nails. I just clip them.

My nails are pretty strong, so usually the pattern is this:

-I let them grow but don't do any sort of grooming.
-One of them eventually breaks because they're pretty long.
-I bite the rest off to make it even.
-It's very satisfying.

Occasionally I will just bite them because I'm anxious/upset about something, but usually it's the former.

Excessive biting of my nails is a habit I've had all my life and expect to have until I'm in the grave. And my ghost will be still nibbling on its nails.
The bones of beasts and the bones of kings become dust in the wake of the hymn.
Mighty kingdoms rise, but they all will fall, no more than a breath on the wind.

I use to have chronic, extreme nail-biting issues. Quite often I wouldn't start at the end of the nail, but at the top, and work my way down; I once removed my entire thumbnail this way!

I think there are/were some complex underlying self-esteem issues behind it, but I've been gnaw-free for at least a year now. That being said, I still have some relapses immediately after trimming my nails that last for a few days or so. It's due to my fidgety, obsessive-compulsive nature - if I'm rubbing my fingers together and feel an imperfection in my nails, I just have to "correct" it.

First option. Not because I care about my nails, but just because it's annoying when people do it. I cut them.

This. H, you realize not everyone who clips their nails and doesn't bite them is "very conscious"? Nail clipping is basic hygiene. Simply doing it doesn't place you in a "very conscious of taking care of nails" category.

On the flipside, biting at them at all is a dirty habit most people drop when they're 5.
Eh, I had to have five options to make it symmetric. Also, odd numbers are more artsy.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. Nails?  No.
Cuticles/hangnails/skin around fingers?  Yes.
