I would feel comfortable voting for every album except TKI and FftS.

I don't really do survivors anymore.  They just aren't fun for me anymore.

Karelian Isthmus and Far from the Sun are my least listened albums too. KI is just a bit immature and not so original, and FFTS is simply bland and uninspired. Anyway, I'll start the survivor on Saturday!

For those who haven't checked the survivor thread:
Ok, since no one seems to care about this album, is it alright if we skip it? Exile and Sign (the most well-known songs that have been re-recorded with Tomi Joutsen) could go to the finals, or the whole album could be ignored totally (like with Lunar Strain in the In Flames survivor), as they'd probably get voted out first.

I'm fine with it being skipped because people will probably just vote those two songs out first anyway.

I've only heard the album a couple of times and it's pretty lame.

This is pretty old news but I'll still post it: https://wordsasweapons.wordpress.com/2011/02/01/statement-von-amorphis-zu-pasis-shirtausfall/
So, Pasi wore a Josef Mengele shirt at one of the shows where there were former members on stage. He's a neo-Nazi, but like I posted in the Nazi-thread here, I won't burn the old Amorphis albums on which he sings! :lol

BTW, judging on the live videos I've seen, Pasi was quite bad live. I've heard that his vocals were heavily edited on Tuonela and Am Universum. No wonder why those 2 albums feature his best performances!

An update from the Amorphis FB page:

Dear Fans. Our record label Nuclear Blast forced us to change the cover art due to similarity for other album covers that include egg. Graphic designer Holger Tiefenbach modified new one with slight difference. It's never good to do compromises but we hope you like it! Have a good weekend folks. -Esa

Managed to pick up Skyforger limited edition on the weekend for $10.  After not hearing any music by them but hearing many good things by a lot of you blokes about them, I decided to pick it up.  I'm up to track 3 and I gotta say, the first two songs were incredible.   :tup

Really good, original metal.  After reading a bit on them it seems like this is a newer direction for them.  Will be picking up more.  What's a couple more good albums?

That's the one before Skyforger isn't it?  Still listening and the is really impressive stuff.  I'm loving the atmosphere of the whole sound, it just breathes and has a really open and somewhat calming atmosphere.  Sky is Mine had absolutely killer melodies, a cracking tune.

I'm halfway through Majestic Beast and I had to check to make sure I wasn't listening to Opeth, very Grand Conjuration.

That's exactly what I love about their latest three albums as well, it's kinda heavy but it's gorgeous harmonically which makes it surprisingly pleasant, even in the heavy songs.

Yeah that one is very Opeth. :lol I think in terms of the heaviest songs, the ones from the previous two albums are better, particularly Perkele (God of Fire) from Eclipse.

And yeah Silent Waters is the one before Skyforger.

Exactly Ariich, that's a perfect way to describe it.  Just the sound overall gives me a comfortable, calming feeling.  I'm really enjoying this album.  The first two tracks are just incredible as is Sky is Mine and Highest Star.

Noticed last night the major sound glitches in Skyforger and My Sun.  The band must have been pissed about that, but I just loaded them into cool edit and fixed the volume of those sections myself, so it's no big deal.

Will be checking out more.  From what I've checked out of the DVD on youtube looks amazing also, great band.  Thanks guys, especially you DTVT, you recommended these guys to me just a few weeks or so ago, and thought of your recommendation when I saw the album in store.  :tup

They had wav files of the corrected versions on their site for download, dunno if they still do but it could be worth getting them for maximum quality.

Yeah, had a quick look around last night, but I couldn't find them.  Re-saving them in cool edit after I edited them didn't make too much of a difference to the sound quality.  I'm not too overly fussed.  If I come across the regular version cheap I might pick that up too.  I only paid $10 for the digipak, marked down from $35, so I'm not complaining.

Course of Fate and From Earth I Rose BTW, are amazingly epic!!

The error on the digipak was later fixed, at least I've seen some digipaks with "corrected edition" text on the sticker.

If you want to be among the first to listen to the new Amorphis single "You I Need", make sure to come back here on Monday, April 11 for the official Facebook premiere of the song! Finnish fans are also likely to come across it on the radio from next week on.

The TV premiere of "You I Need" will be on the charity gala "Idols tekee hyvää", which will be aired on Easter Sunday, April 24 at 19:15 on MTV 3 (Finland).
Amorphis on Idols? Hmm... I know metal (including Amorphis) is popular in Finland, the Amorphis albums with Tomi Joutsen (plus Far from the Sun) have been certified gold here and some songs get airplay on radio, but this is interesting!

The new song is different from the other recent singles. Those were ingrained on my brain after one listen. This one isn't. Plus, this one is very keyboard- and piano-driven. Will listen more later!

The more I listen to it, the more I like it! :) You I Need isn't as catchy as House of Sleep or Silver Bride, but still great. I think I even heard a short female vocal part after the 3 minute mark.
