I saw Amorphis live last Saturday at the last show of the Circle World Tour. Not the absolute best gig I've witnessed by them, but I had a good time and the set had enough rarely played songs to keep me interested:
My Kantele was the highlight for me - they played a new version that mostly stays true to the acoustic arrangement, but has the ending of the heavy version ("So it will not play..."). They even had acoustic guitars with them, which was sweet, and Esa played the intro to Brother Moon acoustically as well. The third verse of Silent Waters was also played in a more mellow way than on the album, and Hopeless Days had an extended outro. Drowned Maid is my favorite song from Tales, so it was cool to finally hear it live, and Weeper on the Shore was beautiful.
I have to complain about the unbalanced song order, though: as you can see, there are lots of heavy songs in a row in the second half of the main set, while the encore only includes radio-friendly singles. Also, playing Black Winter Day in the middle of the set is blasphemy!
