'Queen Of Time' is probably the most growl heavy album of the TJ era, it's also their most progressive too.
As I've stated may times Tomi Joutsen is the best growler in metal and then some.
I would suggest to try 'Under The Red Cloud' almost as good as QoT.

Queen of Time is a masterpiece imo.  Red Cloud may not quite reach that high for me, but it is up there and great songs as well.

I know I've mentioned it before, but our cat's name is Sampo.  And we just got a dog recently and named her Reverie (after the Opeth album/song).
Winger would be better!

Yup I agree it's pretty close to being the perfect Amorphis album, Red Cloud is almost as good.
But that opening of 'The Bee' with Tomi's growl just floors me every time I hear it.

I think I agree.  It's one of the most complete albums of the last few years.  I'd probably classify it as my fav Amorphis album.

Queen of Time is incredible.

And yeah Skyforger has the most clean vocals of the Joutsen era. In terms of songwriting, I do still love it but I actually think its one of the weaker of this era, along with The Beginning of Times. The rest I consider outright amazing.

I think Red Cloud is even better than Queen Of Time, but both are stellar albums. And I have a soft spot for Eclipse, the first one with Tomi Joutsen and the return of growls in Amorphis music.
Must've been Kwyji sending all the wrong songs.   ;D

Awesome, if the other recent-ish ones are somewhere between Skyforger and Queen of Time in balance of vocal styles, I'll be pretty happy with that.

Seeing all the positivity here for Under the Red Cloud make me think I'll go backwards from here for a while (and of course get the new one that I think they're working on right now when it comes out).

So far as the TJ era goes love it all and my list would look something like this (and may be wrong but I thought we were expecting a new studio album this year no?)...

Skyforger
Silent Waters
Eclipse
Under The Red Cloud
Queen Of Time
Circle
The Beginning Of Times

Not that keen on live albums anymore, but I will probably still get this. But new studio would be better.

Awesome, looking forward to both the live album and the new studio album. Looks like that setlist has a lot of my favorites from Queen of Time, which I have been listening to almost obsessively this week. Of the ones they could do with the standard lineup (so not Amongst Stars), I'd have loved to see Grain of Sand, but I'll absolutely take The Bee, Heart of the Giant and Pyres on the Coast. Plus Sampo and Silver Bride!

Already went ahead and ordered Under the Red Cloud.

Something a bit different but I enjoyed this.  Dunno who old mate is but he has a great voice.  Love the song structure too.  Keen for this now actually.

If the rest of the album is this good I hope, already pre-ordered Japan CD.

The live album is the kind of quality you'd expect from this band's shows. The mix is pretty good, it's not easy to get enough rhythm guitar to cut through the mix with their sound but it's decent here. Some of the live arrangements also give additional value to the release, like the extended middle section in Sampo that makes it even better than the original studio version in my opinion.

I also can't help but notice how heavy that setlist is. They dropped some older hits in favor of more Queen of Time songs and this is the result.

Esa's album is finally and it's an absolute beauty.
Not as heavy as Amorphis with quite a few different styles and singer present throughout the record.

Most recent video, seems a little odd at first, but with a few listens to seems to work quite well.

I haven't done any ordering for a while as there hasn't been a lot I've wanted to spend my money on but these two look the goods.  Might have to result to some online ordering for these possibly.

Live At Helsinki Ice Hall is great, slightly rawer (as you'd expect) from the album versions and Tomi sounds amazing.
Esa's album is pretty solid, not really as good I thought it would be with the singers involved.

Feel kind of the same way about Esa's album. Very enjoyable listen, but not blown away (maybe that's not the kind of album that's supposed to do that anyway...). I like the songs with Renske and the first single (Storm). Einar's song is growing on me. The couple of instrumentals/semi-instrumentals are very pleasant. Not too impressed by the songs featuring Tomi and and Strid. Anneke is always Anneke but I've heard better from her  ;D

Had one listen of Esa's album and I thought it was really nice.  Very short and not much to it but I didn't really have any expectations but I really enjoyed it and loved the variety throughout.  Bjorn's song was nice and really like Anneke's song too.  Storm could be up there for song of the year, fuck that's so good.

I'm not an Amorphis fan, so maybe I'm experiencing Esa's album a little differently as a result, but I like it more than I thought I would.  I don't know what I was really expecting, but I agree with wolfking that it's really nice.  Although I'm not that into the singer's voice on Storm (and he has the unfortunate placement of being between two of my favorite singers).  And as usual I could do without the harsh vocals on the one track, but otherwise I like the rest.  Jonas' tracks took a few times to grow on me but they and Einar's track are incredible.  The spoken word track is pretty cool and Promising Sun and Fading Moon are really nice.
