Guitar World's "100 Worst Riffs, Licks, and Solos of All Time"

In Guitar Magazine's December 2004 issue, they had a joke article - The 100 Worst Riffs, Licks, and Solos of All Time.  They went through and took beloved solos and just roasted on them, poking fun and generally being mean for the humor in it.  For each one, it listed the artist, the song, the album, the year, and the guitarist.  Each one had little icons to indicate what sucked about it.  There were about 10 of them - things like "lazy", boring", and (among other things) "Involves C.C. DeVille".  The entire article can be found HERE.

Unfortunately, the reprint found here online excludes all those cool little icons, and also omits the little sidebars they had on different pages, like one regarding the live version of "Freebird", noting that if their sound was known as the "triple guitar attack", then this song was the equivalent of the slaughter at Gettysburg.  Either way, it's a humorous read and if you don't like people poking fun at your favorite classic songs and solos, then you probably don't want to read it.  They're pretty harsh on a lot of my favorites and I still find it quite amusing.  Enjoy.

I should love this list because I usually agree with these ones. Unlike "best" ones.

EDIT: Oh wait. This is the one I've seen before. I do agree with most of it (especially Dirty Deeds. Holy shit I hate that solo), although some I don't. Can never have too much Poison on a worst list though. :neverusethis:

Haven't heard most of these, but the ones I have heard aren't THAT bad. It's not the worst thing ever.

Pretty funny stuff from what I read. I think what was more hysterical though were all the butt hurt comments.

Man, I can't believe they put in Iron Maiden Fear is the Key.  I think they are talking about Janick's harmonics in the middle, which fits the atmosphere nicely, not sure if they even listened towards the end of the song, where Janick puts in a fitting solo.

But seriously, number 29 worst guitar solo of all time, give me a break.

The whole list is pretty rubbish, yet amusing.

I just saw Satriani was on this list too, which pretty much makes this redundant.  I do agree with INXS being there though.
