Joe Lynn Turner - Belly of the Beast
« on: December 02, 2022, 04:21:34 PM »
Anyone heard this? at the young old age of 71, Joe Lynn Turner came out with a surprising, very solid and very metal album.

I never really followed the guy so I couldn't tell you anything about him aside from "He was in Rainbow and in Deep Purple for an album also". And I don't really know how much "heavy" he might have gotten in his solo albums but damn, Belly of the Beast is really a strong and heavy album, with hardly any bad or obviously filler songs.

The title track, Black Sun and Dark Night of the Soul are the standouts of the album for me. Tortured Soul and Rise Up are also great.

Fans of classic rock / metal, check it out!

I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

First off, he is one of my favorite vocalists.

Second, I had no idea he was working on anything.

Third, this thing is HEAVY.

I'm about 8 songs in and kind of floored by how good this is. Totally unexpected surprise.

To the OP, check out Malmsteen Live In Leningrad to get a feel for JLT in his prime. One of my all time favorite live albums.

This album is definitely better than it has any business being.

Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Don't forget Graham Bonnet's album released earlier this year, Day Out In Nowhere.

Right, uh?  :D very surprising album.

Never really followed Malmsteen but this might be the starting point to explore more of JLT!

The only one of Blackmore's singers that I really do truly wish he'd work with again.
