Good.  At least you're getting the point.  They are supposed to be BAD.

RESULTS  ROUND #4  / ORIENTAL METAL
I know a lot of you had to do some research for this round. But man… it’s been very lucrative for me… I thank you all for the effort you invested in…

Onno - Jurojin – Proem 7

Good submission..  :tup made me wanna smoke w..  err anyway.. First of all it fits the theme perfectly… they have an authentic signature, well Tool influence is there, but still.. they seem to have made the sound their own with the successful utilization of the Eastern instruments. This song combines the Eastern vibe and the Western in a well crafted prog rock song. I like it.

Scorpion - Melechesh - Illumination: The Face of Shamash –  9

Holy fucking shit! Brilliant!!.. and new to me.. you nailed it mister!  :metal
This song is full of fantastic riffs!!! All very well structured and mang are they addictive! The atmosphere created with the Middle Eastern rhythms  and sound effects works so damn well.. Thank you for this band… I’m gonna be all over them like a donkey on a waffle.…

Ytse - The Black Mages-One Winged Angel 2

No no.. you can’t trick me into scoring you high by sending me a piece with an orchestra… this roulette is about finding good songs and bands.. put that orchestra behind any street musician, they will sound like this  ;)
seriously, there was nothing special on that composition, neither was there in the delivery… (I mean the band ) some mediocre guitar playing, and not-so-bad keys… that's all..
Plus, there was nothing oriental in that song.. it was some eastern guys playing western music.. (although you didn’t lose any points because of your lousy interpretation  ;D )

if you’re gonna send me some Asian metal, send me something like this: (no Rickrolling this time, promise!)
ballsy metal

Jingle Mr. Big - Addicted To That Rush 4

I absolutely love Billy Sheehan and Paul Gilbert.. However appreciating the quality of a song and loving it are different things.. this song is not for me…  I’m addicted to Rush.. but not that rush :P
Plus, this song has nothing to do with the theme…

Lolzeez - Rudra-The Pathless Path to the Knowable Unknown - 3

The instrumentation aspect is mediocre at best and vocals are horrendous…  :-\  I know you had to find a song for this round… and I know you had to do it quickly because of your trip...  it’s not your taste either…. Thanks for doing a research though….  :tup

Elite - Gevolt - Tum Balalaika 6

This was a pretty interesting piece.. the instrumental aspect was really good… but the language killed it a bit for me... plus.. too much folk for my taste.

lonestar - Distorted - Flesh and blood – 9.7

:o  :o   :o  That’s oriental metal to its core… it gave me goosebumps… you mtherfcuker… lonestar is of course taking good advantage of knowing my taste too well… he reads me like a book…
I am not even big on female vocals… this lady killed me though… so versatile… the rhythm section is strong… the bass and drums do the job perfectly… the eastern instruments are incorporated masterfully and tastefully… this roulette was kind of worrying me, making me feel like I won’t add anything to my library….  Thankfully that has changed!

Ruba-  Animal Alpha - Breed Again 9.9

:omg: I’m speechless…. I love me some well-done avantgarde …  I’ve got no idea whatsoever why the hell I have never checked out this band….  This chick is crazy.. I love you Agnete Kjølsrud!!!!  :hefdaddy Purchased the album right away… can’t wait to hear the whole thing….. TY TY TY!!!!

lonestar 30,5
Elite     30,1
Onno   27,7
Ruba    26,9
Scorpion 26
Lolzeez   22,5
Ytse   20
Jingle   14

Round #5: Band round (you will be able to send 1 to 5 songs)
The idea is introducing me to a new band... so this round I will not accept the submissions I am familiar with... No Iron Maiden.. no Tool...
If you have doubt with the band you've chosen, send it to me soon so that you can still have time to find another band before the deadline...
Which is 5th April (Friday)

Good luck :obscure:

Fuck yes Melechesh. They're new to me as well, but they are fucking awesome.

Though I thought about sending Distorted as well... :'(

Let's see what I can find for the band round.

If you sent Distorted, I would have 2 new bands as opposed to 3...  ;)

:omg:. The risk was worth taking!

Yes, they are my favourite band, and Djerv is awesome as hell too. Hopefully you like some other songs from them. Breed Again is actually one of my least favourites of them, but it's still damn-near-perfect. They never did a bad song, however, they made only 23 songs.

However, my peak in this roulette is certainly now passed. 9,9, goddamnit!

Well, screw this. I explicitly went out of the way to find a band that was not listed in your last.fm, or else I would have sent either Melechesh or Distorted.. Well, whatever, still in second place.

Well, at least I didn't have the lowest score of the round for once.  Boy, your tastes sure have changed in the last 6 months.  Doesn't look like I'm going to achieve my original goal.

I seriously thought asian metal meant....asians playing metal.

Can't get much more "asians playing metal" than the Black Mages. But rather than just show them shredding away, I figured something showing them on par with DreamTheater (full orchestra) ect ect.

While I consider Mr.Big an even WORSE interpretation of this round than mine(might as well have sent Steel Dragon)...........Addicted to That Rush would have got a 9.9 in my roulette in any round.
Take care everyone - Bet you all didn't even notice I was gone.

Happy Lives to you all.

If the round was 'asian metal' you could have a point...  ;)

definition of  Oriental Of or relating to the countries of the Orient or their peoples or cultures; eastern.

not eastern people doing something of west  :)

Conceptually, I agree.  However, I sent the 2009 "Back to Budokan" version.  What's more metal than playing in front of 12000 Japanese in the most famed Japanese concert hall?  I'll concede that musically it didn't fit the theme, but overall it did.

However, it's the lady's roulette, and she makes (and interprets) the rules/definitions.  Judge, jury and executioner.

Note: What I have in mind is not important, feel free to interpret the themes as you please.
