If you've been around, I run my roulettes different than most people. Like the last one, this is a roulette that everyone is welcome to join in initially, and people get weeded out as things move along until one person is standing...literally.
This roulette is going to have a new twist thrown in. Each participant is locked into one band the entire roulette. Read the rules first very carefully:
BANDS CLAIMEDlonestar - Karyna
wolfking - Lord
elite - Darkwater
nekov - Von Hertzen Brothers
kingshmegland - I Mother Earth
Dark Castle - A Life Once Lost
? - Paradise Lost
Morawintersoul - Subsignal
Lolzeez - Genesis
Onno - System of a Down
Scorpion - Buckethead
Orthogonal - Serenity
jingle.boy - Consortium Project
PuffyPat - The Mars Volta
sigz - Estradasphere (if all the songs are about Eric Estrada this wins by default)
DebraKadabra - Floater
Ultimetalhead - Frank Zappa
Mystery Participant - Section A
WindMaster - Mumford and Sons
Tyrias - Kamelot
Perpetual Change - Bob Dylan
1. Request a band by posting in this thread. PMs not accepted. Bribes probably not accepted
2. Requesting a band is not necessarily first come-first serve for the sake of fairness. If someone else requested a band and you think you can do a better job with it, request it as well. Signups will be done in 48 hour sections according to timestamp. If no one else requests the band in that period, it is yours. If two or more people sign up for the same band in the same section, if I know one person is an expert on that band, that person gets it - example that won't happen: If lonestar and Nick both chose IQ (banned list anyway), lonestar would get it because I consider lonestar the resident IQ expert. If I don't know which one is the expert, I'll ask the people to try to settle between them, or play as a team (agreeing on the song to send), or allow both to play the same band if there is enough of a back catalog (sending the same song in a round would be ok, but no repeats from previous rounds), or if all that fails - the person with senority based on the number of posts they have in the GMD forum gets the band.
3. Do not request a back-up band. If you don't get your choice, submit a new request in the next block.
4. When you get your band choice, it's yours for good. No trades, no switches. Stay out of the thread and don't gum it up with spam. I will start a new thread for the actual roulette.
5. There are going to be eight rounds, so make sure your band has at least eight songs.
6. The banned and partially banned list is subject to additions. I went through my iPod, but there are things I don't own because I'm already familiar (radio hits from the 70s-mid 90s, for example) - or maybe just missed by accident. There are also bands from previous roulettes I want to get into but haven't been able to track down albums. Those are out of the running as well, since I know I'll probably like them. If you request something I reject, you may submit a replacement artist in the same 48 hour block.
7. Each round, a number of players will be eliminated depending on the number of participants. No scoring, it's a pass fail system.
Some of the partial banned artists are ones I just don't have a complete discography for. Others are by choice. Be wary if you decide to go down that road. There are a ton of banned artists, but there are also some big names available.
