Fates Warning - Darkness In A Different Light
Judas Priest - Sin After Sin
Judas Priest - Unleashed In The East
Spock's Beard - The Light
Transatlantic - The Whirlwind
Wintersun - Time I

I endorse these purchases.
I gave that Wintersun album a spin on Spotify first and it was pretty good on the first listen.  Good enough to spend some money on at least!

Yesterday, I picked up Transatlantic's Kaleidoscope, but I also found used copies of Dream Theater's Live Scenes From New York and Jordan Rudess' Rhythm Of Time, so that was cool.

Can't argue that too much.  DC chose the wrong band to stick with.  Get Silent Force's album... it's incredible.

I haven't picked up the Royal Hunt yet.  Didn't know it was that bad.

Let's put it this way, they're on a definite declining trend from from X and Show Me How To Live.  I think 'awful' is a bit strong, but it's definitely bottom tier - for Royal Hunt, and for 2013.

I don't think D.C. is the problem, it's Andre.  He seems to hit dry spells in his writing.  The Mission is the last album I would rate better than a B to be honest, and X would be the only B in the post Mission albums.

While I don't agree with this in full, the problem definitely is Andre. D.C. is a great singer, and likely has little to no input on the songs.

in hindsight "awful" was too strong.
But I was shocked at how much they'd slipped.

After one spin, it's pretty decent.  Nothing outstanding, but a solid release form the boys, some different stuff in there which is cool.
