I ripped it onto I-Tunes and then I gripped it.  Can't get the residue off so it's stored in the basement like all freaks should be.

I have to admit that I mostly listen to music on my MP3 player, but I still feel the need to have physical copies for the sake of having the artwork and lyrics, and if the files disappear, I can always rip them to my PC again.

That is exactly how I feel as well.

Never cared with any CD.

I didn't know anyone cared about this.
Not sure why anyone should, but some do.

Let's be friends.

Unless you're talking semantics and have a digital copy instead or something. Then we're not a match.

I was hoping this thread wouldn't turn into a "I don't listen to CDs anymore" thing.

Physical copies forever!

“I think it's really tragic when people get serious about stuff. It's such an absurdity to take anything really seriously ... I make an honest attempt not to take anything seriously: I worked that attitude out about the time I was eighteen, I mean, what does it all mean when you get right down to it, what's the story here? Being alive is so weird.”

All my CDs are stored up in the loft, I can't even remember what the Awake disc looks like.

I always try to store my CD's in the correct position, which means the putting the album title horizontally.

However, with the Awake CD I sometimes get in doubt how I should store because if I put it like the other CD's, the song listing seems out of place and vice-versa    .

Just wanted to know DTF's opinion on this extremely trivial and non important matter.  :P

WTF?
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

If you have the song titles properly oriented, the band name and album title do look kinda cool at the "artsy" angle.  But everything else (the logos, etc.) is also askew, so that can't be the proper orientation.

This therefore must be correct:

Looking at the CD, I see the dots before each track are strangely positioned... Any reason? Nuggets?

I believe this is how I have mine stored. Then again, if your case has a center that's either loose or missing a few of those plastic pieces, it wouldn't matter since the CD would probably spin.

Clarifying things:

I'm asking how do you store the CD inside its case. Not how you store the case. If that was the case, then the third option would make no sense  :mehlin

I put it in its case horizontally, spin it around 3 times before closing the case. Unless, of course, it's hot outside, because then you need to spin it 4 times.  :P

My Dream Theater collection is stored on a shelf so my Awake CDs are vertical.

I've ripped them all to my PC so they're just in the bookshelf collecting dust.

This.  I bought it, took it out once to copy on my computer, then put it away for all eternity.  I even burned a second copy to store in my car, so if my CD booklet was stolen, I wouldn't lose my originals.

You are quite radical DT fan aren't you? I remember you saying nobody likes SDOIT and that Octavarium is DT best album except for Panic Attack and half of title track which are shit... And now this... Well... You remind me of Marsek and his attitude towards SC, I wouldn't be surprised if you two were related somehow :lol Which other DT CDs would you put in garbage together with Awake and SDOIT?

(just went upstairs to look at the cd in the case)

ok, so I have it with the band name and album title horizontally aligned.  But more importantly for me, as Orbert pointed out, it is because the other labels and such are also horizontal.

I'm not anal enough to care. The cd will be in a case so I won't be able to see it so why would it matter? I know what the cd is because it says on the spine and the cover and all Ill be doing is taking it out and putting it in a cd player.
Someone call MP because this is real OCD, not the version of control-freakery he thinks it is.

Some people are weird.  DT fans especially it seems.
