Exhilarating songs v. devour the universe
« on: February 08, 2013, 11:54:56 PM »
Gary Hoey - Hocus Pocus

Arch Enemy - Ravenous

Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover

Threat Signal - As I Destruct (even if this is too heavy for some of you, you'd be missing out if you didn't at least check out the solo at 2:13 and listen through to the beautiful outro)

Just to clarify, this thread is for songs that are full of energy in a thrilling way that either kicks your ass, is uplifting, or gets you bucked up enough to rape a mountain. Please don't let it die an early death :(

I love the whole Triliogy of songs i.e. The Battle, The Revenge and then The Showdown, great stuff.

One that instantly came to mind was Lost Horizon - Think Not Forever.  Amazing song.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Hey BF, my cousin is married to Gary Hoey's sister.  They jam together sometimes.  He's a real, cool, down to earth guy.

So wait, we're spelling it wrong and king is spelling it right? What is going on here? :lol -- BlobVanDam

It's a shame they just disappeared, I guess Daniel was just too irreplaceable.  That whole album is uplifting and positive, really underrated power metal.

Love that Johnson.

On that note, Satriani has taken me to many a height. And this was before my drug-filled days. That man, along with Mr. Johnson, is full of genius.

Joe Satriani - One Robot's Dream
" " - The Souls of Distortion
" " - Flying In A Blue Dream
" " - Crystal Planet

Radiohead - There, There (The Boney King of Nowhere)
Gorillaz - Stylo

These two songs, completely opposite in feeling and tone, the former being a melancholic, depressing lullaby; the latter being a pop-infused, hip/hop/jazz inspired groove. But both elate me to another level of emotion in their own ways. Beautiful music. Satriani just fucks my mind. Really hard.

And this one just makes me want to crush the Earth and move onto another planet to destroy.

Thrice - Hold Fast Hope

DTP says "WOW, LOOK AT THAT GREAT POST"
RIP DTP.

Tremonti - So You're Afraid
Collective Soul - Heavy (Kinda overplayed but I love this song anyway)
Fair to Midland - Amarillo Sleeps on my Pillow
Almost every Disarmonia Mundi song ever. Red Clouds is a light example.
