is anyone else actually having a viewing party at their house? I actually am
I am, a party of two though, and no fancy monitors and shit, but really good sound and that matters

Ah, your new boyfriend, right?  ;)

Please say no, please say no, goddammit!!!!

Nope, the ex :D I'll never be lucky enough to find someone who tolerates DT again, I think :rollin

Viewing party? Of course. I'll probably pick up a couple of lobsters, a couple of bottles of champagne and head over to my parents house as they are both big Dream Theater fans. All five family members are DT fans actually, we all went to see them live during the ADToE tour together. I don't expect my younger brothers to show up for this though.

I'll have a second viewing with a close friend of mine from the university, we get together once in a while to spend an entire evening just listening to prog and drinking whisky.

Seeing as all my friends suck, I am willing to road trip up to 200 miles for a viewing party.

If your friends are all girls that could be one hell of a viewing party.... personally, I'd skip the road trip ;D

The only other DT fan I am friends with lives a few states over and my wife actively dislikes DT...so Party of One for me as well :(
I'm quite positive that will hold up nicely in court.

One of the two declined the invitation: "As much as I like them, I couldn't stand a 2h30 concert." :emo:

Very nice! I went with all four in my family plus two friends for my mom's birthday to one of the adtoe shows too! It was fantastic!!!!! That was my first concert ever being in the pit and I was standing second row. I actually reached way the hell up at one point and just barely got to touch JLB's mic stand (I have an obsession with that mic stand btw) for a split second when he was leaning down a little. So anyway my parents will be at my viewing party (I'm just that awesome) and some other friends.

Lol I made an event on Facebook and invited a ton of people (including cute girls who only know DT because I blab and post about them all freaking day long) and I'm describing the show as just over 3 hours long, plus everyone is welcome to stay longer to watch the special features afterwards. I said "please join myself and other friends as we observe and admire this spectacular performance on my TV and sound system probably rather loudly...." and for the extras - "it is your choice to stay for as long as you wish if you think you are tenacious enough to handle the majesty of such a spectacle."

Hahaha like 8 including my parents and brother, but we don't even have a release date. Once we do I'm gonna send out a message and more people may reply.

That's awesome! When me and my family went I also had 3 friends with me and my mother's sister and her husband tagged along as well. The only one there who was not a Dream Theater fan left as a Dream Theater fan (and is now a rather serious one). As it turned out I didn't spend the concert with my friends and family though. I purchased the VIP package for myself and went to the meet and greet before the concert and when we were allowed to walk up to the stage and take place before the arena opened up for everyone else I simply couldn't force myself to give up my spot as it wasn't physically possible to get any closer to the stage from where I was standing (first row and somewhere between stage right and center stage). I apologized to my friends and my family after the concert but they were quite understanding.  ;)

8? That's nice, you're going to have a great night it seems. But yeah, I really hope we'll get a release date soon.

Yea should be fun. Basically it'll just be having a party with the friends I normally hang out with for the most part. Can't wait!

You live in Europe, how hard is it to find a DT fan? :lol

Europe is not prog heaven, we're still minority :lol

I was told at one point that DT is practically a household name in Europe. ???

Well almost everyone knows them, but hardly anyone likes them, and those who do are more about respecting musical skills and not actually digging their music.

cyberdrummer

DT certainly aren't a household name in the UK. Still a somewhat underground (but sizeable) following.

Shadow Ninja 2.0

They're big in Japan, I think that's in Europe somewhere...

wasteland

They are big enough in Italy that I found another pair of guys on the plane from my island to Milano that were boarding to see the DT gig. :D

Cedar redaC

It would be fun to get the whole Dream Theater Forums community together over Skype and watch the concert when it comes out. I don't know how we'd synchronize everything, but it would be cool.

MoraWintersoul

Well, at least the some of us around the same ballpark when it comes to time zones, but I bet the DVD will be a few days up to a week late to Serbia, it always is. So it would suck to make someone wait longer or whatever.

Well since the timezones are exact hours apart we could all press the play button when the second hand on your computer reaches a certain time. or just say "one two three GO!" and if there is lag time, hope it remains consistently off throughout the call. Actually that would be really cool if DT did live commentary over the internet by skyping or live streaming themselves watching the entire show.

philmcson

Yes, I'm pretty sure DT don't know what happened at that show so they'll be watching the DVD for sure!  :P

MoraWintersoul

Guys, as much as we'd like DT posting videos of themselves talking about the DVD or doing that commentary, answering more Twitter Q&A's, making docu's about song creation and recording, they are uhm MAKING AN ALBUM NOW :lol I don't think they have much time to fuck around.
