Holy Grail band Topic v.Not Monty Python's
« on: January 15, 2013, 03:57:16 PM »
Anyone else here fans of these guys? Originally almost everyone from White Wizzard when they all split off, they're Traditional Heavy Metal band with Thrash, Melodic and many more influences that make them such a deadly force.  Their sophmore album 'Ride The Void' is set to come out next week and Decibel Magazine is streaming the whole album a week early!
https://www.decibelmagazine.com/featured/streaming-holy-grails-riding-the-void/

I'll need to give it a few more listens before I decide if it's better than their first 'Crisis In Utopia' or not, but either way it's a romper.
So guys, thoughts, any fans here who've been in hiding? Come out and discuss them with me, I love these guys!
They're also on the Metal Alliance tour with Exodus, Anthrax, High on Fire, and Municipal Waste, so if you're into that go check them out!  I'm going to try and hit the tour it should absolutely slay!

Finished my first listen of the album awhile ago, and man, it's killer!  :metal
People were worried when ex-guitarist James Larue left since he wrote a lot of the music for the first album 'Crisis In Utopia' *ALSO WORTH LISTENING TO* but I think the crew and new guitarist Alex Lee did a superb job.  It's definitely faster paced compared to the first, but each song is still pretty memorable.  Will definitely give it a listen at least tomorrow, and many more when I get it next week, but I'd say Holy Grail delivered, especially considering all the hype after their first album.

Anyone else listen yet?

Meaning to get around to it, I loved Crisis In Utopia. Definitely a band I listen to when I want some straight up, shredtastic heavy metal.  :metal

Absolutely  :tup
Ride The Void is definitely different, but I feel you'll like it, songwriting definitely isn't lacking

How are the vocals?

If they are anything like White Wizzard's they are right up your alley...Power Metal with a little early Halford/Eric AK influences

I think that's actually with White Wizzards second vocalist, check out Hollow Ground, it's from Holy Grail's first album

Yeah Over The Top has White Wizzard's second vocalist. WW is rapidly approaching Iced Earth standards for constant line up changes.   :rollin

Giving the new Holy Grail a listen now. Despite the line up change, still sounds like Holy Grail to me. Good old fashioned metal  :metal

You barely notice them, actually. It's more like flavor in a couple of bits of songs, not a constant, ongoing thing. More an accent, and they're not really true death metal growls. They're like halfway between aggressive vocals and growls. It's actually kinda weird that he focused on them, but then Brave Words has some silly reviewers on occasion.

Just bought Ride The Void, and after only two songs..I'm liking it a lot. Tough to get heavy metal like this it seems with clean vocals.
