Songs you love by bands you dislike
« on: January 12, 2013, 02:02:08 AM »
I think Chilliwack is a dreadfully uninteresting band, but their hit song Fly At Night is really beautiful to me. Shame they couldn't match up. Anyone else have songs they love by bands they dislike?

Journey Of The Sourceror by The Eagles. I went and listened to one of their albums just because I love that instrumental so much. I can't remember much other than being bored out of my mind through most of it.

Man, I didn't know you were not a Live fan.  If you saw them live it would change your mind. (Well, they broke up now)  Very powerful and Ed the lead singer is mesmerizing on stage.

From one Canuck to another, great song.  They had a couple of decent tracks.  But, isn't it more like a one-hit-wonder scenario, vs a band you dislike?  Frankly, I don't know more than a few songs by them.

- DragonForce - Disciples of Babylon (Hands down their best instrumental section, with that jazzy interlude. Also, it keeps the video gamey sounds to a minimum. Shame they could never match it up.)

- Rise Against - Hero of War (RA are pretty boring, on the whole, but this song is awesome. Incredibly heartfelt lyrics and an astounding vocal delivery. It helps that it's acoustic, sets it apart from the rest of their catalogue.)

I can't even remember the name of the song, but there is one song by Coheed and Cambria that I really like, but I absolutely abhor the rest of the bands material. Cannot fucking stand them. I tried for a long while to get into them but they just annoy the shit outta' me. This one song is really good though...this...one...fucking song...god damn my memory. I'll search. Maybe a crazy epiphany will happen and I'll not want to murder that man's vocal chords.

Nickelback - "Never Again"
I've never explored their material very deeply, but having only heard their radio hits, I remember liking this song quite a bit back when it was in constant rotation.  Every single since then makes me want to change the radio channel though. Ugh.

Yeah, makes sense. I sampled a lot more of their music though but nothing really did it for me. I still :heart that song though.

Yeah.

As dreadful as Slipknot is, I must admit that Before I Forget is pretty good. And Rihanna is not a band, but I like her song California King Bed.

I don't mention any Nickelback songs... because I don't dislike them! Only their newer songs.

Explosions in the Sky - Your Hand in Mine.

Absolutely boring band imo. So many better post rock bands. But Your Hand in Mine, I don't know why, just clicked with me. An excellent song.

First song that comes to mind. They have a few other cool ones, Paint it Black for example, but otherwise they never did much for me. Gimme Shelter is awesome though.

I love both of those songs but Gimme Shelter much more than PIB, so count me in for another. Also:

John Lennon - Well, Well, Well

Anything else even related to Beatles or any of his other work I've tended to find annoying and utterly away from my tastes, but I fucking love this song so much.

A few spring to mind. Although for most of them 'dislike' is probably too strong a word for the band in general, I just don't choose to listen to them. But also, I don't really love these songs - wouldn't put any of them among my favouirites - but I do enjoy listening to them every now and again.

Seasons in the Abyss - Slayer
Song 2 - Blur
November Rain - Guns N' Roses
How to Save a Life - The Fray (but I think this is mainly down to the episode of Scrubs it was in)

it's funny, a lot of these are songs I dislike by bands I sort of like.

Those Rolling Stones songs are excellent choices though.  I second both of them.

Really?  I did not know that.  I did know the rest of the band did an album under a different name with the lead singer from Candlebox.
