Tweet from Rich Chycki -

@chycki: Satisfaction! #dreamtheater https://t.co/yVkbIlIUU1

Quick! Use the CSI filter to rip the music off the CD!

Don't be stupid.

It's the wrong side of the disc to do that.

Seriously Blob? Just flip the image horizontally in photoshop to get the other side of the disk.

Aythesryche that's impossible.

You wouldn't get the other side of the disk, you'd only get a digital picture of it

Yeah well I'll just print it out then and glue it to a CD. I'll have the last laugh after I rock out to DTs new album. I'll be posting my review of it by tomorrow.

Using the flip function and CSI filter on the picture in photoshop to get a clear image of the back of the CD, printing it out and gluing it on a blank CD so that you can listen to the new DT album and review it tomorrow? That all sounds reasonable... except you know that Dream Theater songs are WAAYY too long for you to be able to finish the album by tomorrow..

Last time I checked, this is not, in fact, a chat thread.

Say wha? This is how this thread has been for weeks.

(And I fucking hate it which is why I just lurk in disgust rather than post)

Maybe if we stopped with empty posts about the thread being locked, it wouldn't be so clogged with empty posts that it would need locking!

Irony.

Posts like this add nothing, and only contribute to the problem, rather than helping. So how about that new Dream Theater album?

Shall we instead talk about the new album?

Here's a question to talk about: What colour do you think will be the main colour of the cover art?

Yes, let's get back to actually discussing the new album!

While I don't at all think the purple thing we've seen is the cover art, I'm hoping it will be something along those lines. I like purple though, so maybe that's wishful thinking. It's probably just something someone whipped up as a promo image with no relation to what Hugh Syme is doing though.

I think it would be really cool if on the tour instead of "This next song is from Dream Theater" or "This next song is from our self titled album", James says "This next song is from the Purple album"  :metal

While I don't particularly like the purple image thing, I think it would be really cool as a textured vinyl cover (like where the black is all one texture and when you run your fingers over the Majesty symbol it's smooth and shiny, or something like that)

The purple image as it is now looks a little cheap to me, but I like the general idea. I would actually prefer something even more simplistic for a s/t, like a flat grey or white majesty symbol on a black background.

:lol

What made that even funnier is that I had to take that into Photoshop to make out anything other than black, so that was a great surprise.

Yeah something like that, only with the majesty symbol taking up more of the album cover and the "Dream Theater" being horizontal across the top.

For the Deluxe box I'd like to see one like the BC&SL one, only this time in pure white with the Majesty logo in the middle (also in white but with different texture).

Couldn't have both albums saved on one CD? (surely I am not talking about the version to be commercially released, I am talking about the one in Chicky's hand)

Possibly, but I highly doubt it. That could only be the case if the files on that disc are lower quality than WAV (which is highly unlikely).

We pretty much know the album has 9 songs + intro, so I'd say double CD is already highly unlikely.

And before anyone points it out, while DT's one example of a double album was indeed only 6 songs, I'm pretty sure it would have been on the whiteboard in individual tracks/movements for the sake of recording, rather than as a 42 minute block.

I think MP3 is exactly what he was referring to by "lower quality than WAV". If I was cranking DT's new album that I'd just spent so long being a part of, I'd be burning uncompressed!

MP3 is lesser quality than WAV.
