SDOIT and SFAM are my favorite artworks, but i enjoy most of them  ;D
I despise most of them:

WDADU - just gross
I&W - dat kitsch
Awake - same as above, but with redeeming factors (color scheme, all the songs represented)
ACOS - WTF?
FII - too bad for the font, otherwise a really good one
SFAM - love it, mostly because it reminds me of the classic prog rock covers
SDOIT - pleasant looking, but reminds me of baseball caps, loose jeans and skateboards...not a good fit for DT.
ToT - As Eye Am
Octavarium - good concept, sloppy execution. The grass looks like it's from Fifa '98 and the whole thing has a late '90s video game quality to it.
SC - looks cheap in some places, bad font, but kinda like the comic book style
BC&SL - the kitsch is back...and the elephant from 3dmark 2003...
ADTOE - this one is refreshing to look at. I like the colors, tooone and the simplicity (most DT covers are overcrowded)

Well, now we know where your tastes lie.  FII is not 'really good' IMHO.  Also what's gross about WDADU other than it being a guy?   Are we (the forum) really that insecure about our sexuality that we can't enjoy a cover with a guy on it?

Also ADTOE.. horrible.. just.. horrible.

My favourite covers are SFAM, SDOIT and ADTOE.  If I had to pick a favourite it would probably go to
ADTOE.

My favourite covers are probably Awake (love the references and the darker mood of the whole thing), Falling Into Infinity (pretty Floydian, and very good. Shame about the font, as already said. Love the simplicity) and Train of Thought (works very well with the mood of the album, and I enjoy the black and white work). Octavarium could be pretty cool, if it weren't so sloppily executed.

For me, the problem is that an armpit is an armpit, no matter who it belongs to. Not what I wanna see on my album covers, y'know? :lol

Whoever recommended "Last Chance to Reason" I want that five minutes of my life back after watching their Upload Complete video.  It started out ok enough until the vocalist appeared with his ridiculous angry facial expressions and growling.

Seriously, if you want to recommend good proggy bands, at least point people towards Seventh Wonder and the like.
Not my fucking problem you don't appreciate growls and they arent suddenly bad because of your hang up. I also find it absolutely hilarious that a facial expression made you that mad.

Certain Type O Negative covers come to mind... I mean, come on, it's just a dude's hairy armpit, you have two of those too, and it's drawn, it's not like you have to smell it if you put the album case near your face :lol (and maybe it smelled nice!)

It's an _ARMPIT_. They didn't have the dude spread eagle showing off his balloon knot.

It's 2013. Time to get over the homophobia.

You went beyond sharing an opinion to being a jerk with your comments.
And they're not "my band", just recommending some music that I enjoyed.
There's sharing your opinion "I didn't like that", and there's being a pompous jerk "if you're going to recommend prog, recommend actual good bands/ I want my five minutes back, stupid growls weh"

If you want to further discuss lets take it to private messages as to not derail any further, but I'd be fine to leave it as is and walk away

How long does mastering generally take anyway?  I thought they'd have finished by now seeing as the mix was finished last week.

It's also time to not name call or make accusations just because someone else finds album art distasteful.  That needs to stop right now.

And same goes for this post:

It's called an opinion my friend.  I would elaborate but I wouldn't want to offend you and/or your band any further.

You went beyond sharing an opinion to being a jerk with your comments.

Dark Castle, you need to quit with the namecalling as well.  I'm not sure why this attitude seems to surface whenever someone says they don't like a band you happen to like, but your resorting to baiting, arguing and namecalling either stops, or else your ability to post here will stop.

Typically a day. I remember a mastering engineer say it could take from 4 up to 12 hours depending on how good the mix is and other things. Usually not more than the typical 8 hour working day.

Where exactly do you get the nerve to assume to know precisely what my problem is with the WDADU cover? What you implied never even occurred to me before. I see you also recklessly accused someone of "homophobia" in similar fashion. What puzzles me now about the forum at this point is how can someone with such an attitude be an "alumni"...

To me when someone brings "gross" into the equation, and we're pretty much talking about a cover that's nothing more than a dude getting 'branded' with the Majesty logo..... I can't help but wonder what's gross?  Using the word 'gross' to me just makes it sound like someone that's on the immature or young side.

I still don't see the problem with the cover. Is it my favorite.. well no. But I don't find it 'gross' or distasteful.

Everyone is different... I'm sure a lot of people hate it just for having a somewhat effeminate guy on it.. why? My line of thinking was homophobia.  Plenty of folks out there that think that way so it's not out of the realm of possibility.  My wife has a lot of gay friends and family and after seeing the things they've been through nothing surprises me anymore.

I apologize if I offended you.
