Yes, Haken have already announced to debut a new song in the coming days :metal

The last Leprous album is also a good medication to forget about DT for an hour.

DT in the studio again thread v. Haken in the studio!
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Cool.  :D I'd like to hear your thoughts on it, but so I don't derail this thread any further, I direct you to our Haken Thread.

On topic, I actually don't mind the artwork with the curtains. It's not fantastic, but it'd work.

I wouldn't mind just the black background and purple DT logo. It's simple, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Pretty much. I've always appreciated simple artwork more than artwork that's all over the place.

I don't understand what's so great about the Six Degrees artwork. Sure, it's radically different from all their other albums, but it's just a bunch of graffiti and scribbles.

Personally in my head I see the cover as a fold out one similar to the Special Edition ADTOE (with the drummer docu). Just black with the purple Majesty logo. It is then in a slipcase which has a matte sorta finish and an embossed purple Majesty logo. So simple, yet so swish! (for lack of a better word)

I think it fits the music well. There's not a lot going on but it sort of has that chaotic look to it. Plus it's just cool to look at.

Which still puts it well above a clown on a unicycle, random mishmashes of elephants, statues, and little girls, naked men being branded, and little boys playing with sand. :lol

But not above guys staring at each other with binoculars, ants, or traffic lights?
Blob, doesn't the wacky art make your job easier? I saw a lot of unicycling, elephants, and traffic lights on DT's screens

Seriously guys, JP was keeping us posted the entire time they were recording the album and mixing. Relax and think about how normal bands are. Normal bands don't tell you shit. I really would love to get updates too, but it's not like we're entitled to know every detail before the album even comes out. Be patient. You'd think people who listen to 40 minute songs would have more patience.

This really made me laugh :lol
;)

Seriously though!  :lol

Whoever recommended "Last Chance to Reason" I want that five minutes of my life back after watching their Upload Complete video.  It started out ok enough until the vocalist appeared with his ridiculous angry facial expressions and growling.

Seriously, if you want to recommend good proggy bands, at least point people towards Seventh Wonder and the like.

SDOIT and SFAM are my favorite artworks, but i enjoy most of them  ;D
I despise most of them:

WDADU - just gross
I&W - dat kitsch
Awake - same as above, but with redeeming factors (color scheme, all the songs represented)
ACOS - WTF?
FII - too bad for the font, otherwise a really good one
SFAM - love it, mostly because it reminds me of the classic prog rock covers
SDOIT - pleasant looking, but reminds me of baseball caps, loose jeans and skateboards...not a good fit for DT.
ToT - As Eye Am
Octavarium - good concept, sloppy execution. The grass looks like it's from Fifa '98 and the whole thing has a late '90s video game quality to it.
SC - looks cheap in some places, bad font, but kinda like the comic book style
BC&SL - the kitsch is back...and the elephant from 3dmark 2003...
ADTOE - this one is refreshing to look at. I like the colors, tooone and the simplicity (most DT covers are overcrowded)

Sycsa is perhaps the most brilliant and insightful man I have ever encountered.
