I've only been on here for a couple of weeks, and I can already tell that all the people on here are slightly insane. Anyway, welcome Nef  :coolio

If you're not insane, you're not DTF material.

So, like, are they LIVING in this studio, or what? It must have been like six months already!
From the ocean comes the notion that the realise lies in rhythm. The rhythm of vision is dancer, and when you dance you´re always on the one. From the looking comes to see, wondrous realise real eyes....

DT are taking the time to make the album sound good!

The writing also took longer, because this time they didn't know the structures for 2/3 of the songs in advance :neverusethis:

...If you lived through the past 20 pages...

Well, they had speculation, facts, bad puns, DT comics, chocolate cake... what's not to love?

About the new album, since the moment I've read it's going to be self titled I've had this image in my mind... a somewhat minimalistic cover with an angled 3D Majesty symbol glistening and gleaming with a background made of stormy clouds, heavy rain and lightning. But not done with any super fancy and probably cheesy and bad CG rendering but solely as a pencil scribble in a rough sketch style with some detailled shading done by a good pencil artist. Predominantly medium to dark greys, some light greys and lightning whites, some deep black shadows, the Majesty symbol with a silver sparkle and the band's name in white in one of the corners.

It's been years since my last attempts at pencil art so I won't try anything that couldn't compete with the image in my head anyway, but the description should be enough for everyone to get the imagination going.

Greetings...
Nef

When i said about no more TGP I didn't mean that they would never play a song with MP vox in it, there is just too much in it to pull it off IMO

As someone who never saw DT doing "An Evening With..." before, I am excited beyond all previous definitions of excitement. Even if the new album blows (I'm expecting greatness, but you never know), I cannot wait to see them do SO MUCH MUSIC.

Oh man me toooooooo...I would be so so sad if they finished with the European tour and then said "Ummmm yeah that was a terrible idea" and then brought out a supporting band in the states. Don't get me wrong I thoroughly enjoyed Crimson Projeckt last time, and I personally think Trivium is decent, but the opener for BC&SL was not enjoyable for me and besides...I don't wanna see that stuff at a DT show...I just want mah DT!

Huh?  ??? 4 of the 5 current members WROTE the song and Mangini is MORE than capable of learning that song. Actually I'd love to hear him drum TGP because in all the live versions I've seen online MP takes some 'breaks' on the bass drum parts here and there. Hey, he wrote the song and that was his prerogative...but he didn't play the 'studio' version of the drums on a lot of the recordings out there.
I think Mangini would nail that song note for note and sound killer doing so. To me it's silly to think they couldn't pull that song off.

Prog Nation had good support bands, but the other tours...no.  We gave them a few minutes, then waited outside.

No opening bands. The time the opening bands would have taken up goes towards Dream Theater's show.

The concert goes from 2 hours to 3 hours long.

Just a longer concert.

Of course they can play it, I'm talking about MP's vocals!

doesn't it also imply an intermission and is there a possibility of even exceeding 3 hours? Also, what did we call the shows last year in South America? Those didn't have an opening act and they were almost as long as Score or Budokan, but they weren't called Evening With, were they?

JLB could easily do all of the vocals in the first verse of The Glass Prison.  They would sound hurried, given the furious nature of the song, but if he can do the pre-chorus part of The Dark Eternal Night all by himself, he can do the first verse of The Glass Prison.  And the shouting vocals later in the song ("Run!") could easily either be omitted or done by JP.  Shouting a word or two isn't exactly difficult. :lol

Yeah but later on when it's back and forth between MP and JLB (example when labrie says: BELIEVE) wouldn't be so easy
