Indeed. We've been pretty brutal on that one with past releases, so I'd be careful.

Don't know if anyone here has thought of it, but someone on the MP forum posted the idea of releasing stems of the new album.  Great idea.

No I mean released WITH the album (like BC&SL).  Of course they wouldn't do it before the album.

Well, seems a good idea for a Deluxe Edition. Of course it's not a content that would be aimed at the largest crowd.

I got the three disc version of BC&SL. I haven't got the money to spend on a DVD edition of the album which includes all the stems.

i'll always get a "special edition" of an album which comes with a making of or whatever but something like a deluxe boxset costing upwards of £50..

No thanks...

I got the 3CD set of BC&SL and the 2CD version of ADTOE. I'll probably buy the special edition (not the deluxe collector's edition) of the new album, but if the deluxe edition interests me enough then I might save up for it.

Looks more likely that he's talking about how much it takes to get each song completed. It seems fairly early still for the whole mixing to be done.

Yeah, that's per song. Knowing there are eight songs, plus YARGGG, plus Easter Egg, we're looking at the best part of a month.

In the very least. I wonder will the single come out as soon as it's mixed or as soon as the full album is mixed?

Let's see here.

I'd be surprised if Easter Egg ends up being something that would require a lot of time to mix, same with the intro track. A bit of an assumption on my part there, but I just don't see either of those being complex songs, if songs at all. I'd maybe even put those at a day or two for the pair.
I'd also expect the usual variety of track lengths, at least a couple of "single" length, which would also take less time to mix, maybe a day each.
Then the remaining tracks would probably be 2-3 days each.

"Best part of a month" is a great bet as far as vague definitions of timespans go. :lol

It could be either way. Of course they will mix it first and release it right away if they feel that the most favourable moment promotion-wise to release it is before the scheduled time for the wrapping of the mixing process. If we follow the analogy with ADTOE, we are still two weeks away from the release of the new single, and I believe John and Richard will likely be done with their work by then.

As far as I recall, it's never come out before the whole album is entirely mixed/mastered (since they won't release the single until it's mastered, and it's all mastered at once).
Usually with DT they'll mix/master the whole thing, and then announce the tracklist very soon after that's done. The single isn't usually far behind that.

Wasn't OTBOA released before the track list, or even the album title last year?

Nope!

Simultaneously with the album cover, and we had the title long before we had the cover.

Nope. OTBOA released on June 26th, the tracklist was announced on June 7th I think (+- day or two).

Maybe they won't release a single for this album since it seems that they will not start touring until next year. Hope I'm wrong...really looking forward to this album!

I don't think the tour and the single have much impact on one another. Could be wrong, but I reckon a single's pretty assured, at this point. It's marketing for the disc, not the gigs - and it is one of the very most effective ways of generating a buzz, and showing the potential buyers that they'll actually enjoy what they're gonna buy.
