I did pretty well the last time; the only songs I listened to for ADTOE prior to release were OTBOA, LNF, and BAI, and only because they'd been uploaded to YouTube by some source or another.

This is actually the most believable album cover posted so far. :lol

For the love of our five gods, can people please stop posting every horrible fan made cover posted on the internet? :lol
(obviously I'm not referring to this intentionally funny one)
Hint: If it's using a wonky font, a wonky Majesty logo, isn't even square, and uses plain Arial font on it, it's *probably* not the real deal. :P

I just woke up, and I'm cranky. I'm sorry.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

yeah I know. It's just, it was really hard waiting til the release date when I knew it was already floating around the internet. But I'm proud to say I stuck it out! haha. I just don't want to have to do that again. xD

I was unsure of what the 'L' word was for a few minutes. :rollin
yeah, I mean, what stops you from finding Love or Lesbians on the internet, and what's so bad about a DT album containing one of those things? :neverusethis:

Ι'm not sure if the details were leaked to some websites or some form of PR email was sent early, but the Greek website rocking.gr reports that the new album will be self-titled, and will come in different editions, as well as a double 180gram vinyl.

https://www.rocking.gr/news/Titlos-kai-imerominia-kukloforias-gia-to-neo-album-twn-Dream-Theater/16408/

I'll do a quick translation as soon as possible.

EDIT: Here is a rough translation of the article:
Quote
The new, self titled album from Dream Theater will be available September 24th, by Roadrunner Records.

"Dream Theater" was recorded at Cove City Studios in New York, produced by the guitarist and founding member of the group John Petrucci, and engineered by the famous Richard Chycki (Aerosmith, Rush). Τhis album marks a new chapter in the band's history, since it is the first where drummer Mike Mangini was involved completely and from the beginning in the creative process.

«I see each album as an opportunity for a new beginning» says Petrucci. «Building or improving in a direction that has evolved over time, or enter in completely new territory. This is the first self-titled album of our career and i can't think of something that states a musical and creative identity in a better way than this. We have completely explored all those elements that makes us unique, like the intensity and the cinematic atmosphere. We are excited with “Dream Theater” and can't wait for everyone to hear it.»

"Dream Theater" will be available in many different editions, including a regular and special 2CD edition, 180gram double vinyl and a limited box set. Preorders will start in the next month via the  Webstore of Roadrunner Records.

Well i know for a fact that the editor has taken interviews with the band members and knows some of them personally, so i don't think it is inaccurate, or else i wouldn't post it.

We'll just have to wait and see i guess.

Oh yeah, but I didn't mean it sarcastically. It really sounds like it's RR's news item but leaked.
Anyway, selftitled it is. I can't say I'm too thrilled by that, but I've never been too thrilled by an album title alone. It's more of a statement anyway, and a well placed one, IMO.

Oh i see, sorry i misunderstood you.
I think it is a bit lazy as a title, but as you said it is more of a statement, and probably the band feels very confident about the album if they think it is the one that deserves to be self-titled.

"This is the first self-titled album of our career"

Is that line just an issue of mistranslation? Otherwise it would cast doubt on the statement being legit.

I did the translation, so not something related to the statement itself. Although i'm not sure what is wrong with it, feel free to suggest a better line and i will add it to my post.

Thanks nikatapi! That sounds really interesting.

I'm not sure about this still. I mean I have full confidence in them but if this album fails to connect with me, I'll be all the more disappointed that they think it's a definitive piece of their career/current or future musical direction.

As it is, it suggests that they'll do another self-titled album in the future, which isn't likely!

Thanks for sharing though!

I'm not criticizing but if he's an honest guy how got this from RR why would he then post it before the official announcement by RR and DT?

Tell that to Metallica  :hat

With that said, the phrase "Dream Theater" works very well as an album title "on it's own" so to speak.
