Well JP should be tracking solos by now and James will probably start tracking vocals soon. I think this upcoming week may be DT's last in the studio. Almost there!

" For our twelfth studio album - we decided to look into the concept of mirror images. Maybe the whole album could be a palindrome.

We wrote 37 and a half minutes of music and then reversed the entire thing in Pro Tools and learned the music for real. "

" We thought it would be a very interesting idea and bring new meaning to the concept of the mirror now that Portnoy is longer in the band going on and on and on about mirror this and mirror that." Jordan Rudeess said in an interview with The Daily Mirror.

" It's called '12:21' and as a result - we didn't want to rush this one like we have done in the past ." Jordan went on to say.

For the artwork - so-called artist Hugh Syme looked in a mirror and took a photo. He then smothered it in stock images and charged his usual fee.

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I'm also expecting a concept album from the guys this time. Don't know why! Labrie said not long ago they were considering that option as long as the final product was at least similar to SFAM.

The new album is going to by a music adaptation of the novel Les Miserables. They just felt that the story would probably lend itself well to music.
