Yes! That's carried! Nice!

And "upon" after it, I think - carried upon a soul.

Yeah, I figured it wasn't within. But something along those lines. Upon sounds about right.

Hey, we'll get it between us!

Is it "turned to stone" to the right and down? Doesn't really make sense, but looks like those words.

After "hypnotized", I see "Blameless"

...I think you're right! It looks like it now you've said it, which powerless and clueless never quiiite did. I can see the individual letters, now you've said it.

"For a moment I lost" (the word before 'lost' is scribbled out)

I think it's funny how a single picture is posted and if there's ANYTHING we can get out of it it WILL be gotten.

We already know a decent amount of lyrics to a song now, before it's even released.

After "carried upon our soul", it's "cared to share (or stare)"

Souls, perhaps? Looks like a tall letter followed by an S at the end, starts with an S-shape.

It might be souls, but I actually see "sands". Like each grain of sand in the hourglass is a moment of our life. But it could be souls.

Here's what I'm seeing so far...

What if all that I believe
for a moment I ' ve lost
and
empty words fill up the squares - like in a crossword?
Every story is a moment carried upon a soul, carried to (something) - I'm pretty sure it's carried again.

With every step I take (something) the (something)

Reminds me of Rush's Entre Nous

We are secrets to each other

This is what we have figured out.

(---)

every person is a story
begging to be told

hypnotized blameless
paralyzed life

(--) like a (---) to a flame

What if all that I believe

for a moment I lost (---)
(---)

empty (words?) fill up the spaces

(circled) carried upon our (soul, sands?)
cared to share

with every step I take

hesitate or falter
dig & dig fast (?)

I can't (---)
I can't (---)

Wither Pt.II
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

We have about another month left here in the studio. Been busy writing lyrics. Jordan is laying down keys and we even had some special "guests" join us this week.

Awwwwwww. :hearts:

Anyone else encouraged that even this far into the album, they're still spending another month with the material?  Feels like having that much time to gestate on the material can only be a good thing.

Most DEFINITELY encouraged - I wasn't really a fan of the semi-rushed DT.  Let the songs grow lives of their own.

Of course, the songs are essentially done, instrumentally, but I wouldn't be surprised if they went back and tweaked a thing or two.

The song has got to be about Mike Portnoy.

Also, I love how JP posted a random picture of his papers, having no idea fans will actually go into a deep analysis about those lyrics.  :lol
