And I'm hoping to actually hear MM.

Like a surprise vocal chorus by MM?

:lol As amusing as that might be, I think I'd settle for just hearing his drums.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

They should make a 20 minute song in which Mangini's "ooohhhhohhohohh" from his acceptance phone call plays over and over again in the background. They should make a contest to see who can spot it, like ass and balls in In the Name of God. It'll be a blast.

Yeah, I think we've had enough drummers doing vocals between BC&SL and Static Impulse.

I'm fine with it on BCASL. Static Impulse was thoroughly ruined by it though imo.
Seriously though, I'd love to hear some non-JLB harmonies return though, because for me ADTOE was lacking for it. Even just more JP backups. His tone mixes well with JLB's.

Going from the question about the album in general to Mangini, Jordan's eyes really lit up, so I'm even more excited.

I don't think we'll ever get a mix as high as MP, but considering the amount of emphasis the band is placing on MM in just about every interview, I would expect a bump up from ADTOE.  I feel that while they were very optimistic about MM last album, it was still "safe".  I'm (cautiously) anticipating what could be another turning point in DT's career.

FW, I agree. High expectations for this album, especially considering how long they are taking to make the record.

I don't mind when he wanted to do a little side rap, or something you know, like "Day after day" or just general harmonies. But when he tries to do his screams in the background like in TCOT, or worse, do them AFTER JLB like in A Rite of Passage verses, it was just annoying and kinda ruined the vocals for me.

At first I thought, "Why is JP writing on his laptop?" Then I looked with my good eye and noticed I was an idiot.

I can read two lines.

The first one says: Every Person is a... shy? IDK.
And another one says: What if all that I believe.

Come on guys, I trust in you  ;D

RRRROOOOOOOAAAAWWWRRRR
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

The lines are...

Every person is a story
Begging to be told

The word "paralyzed" appears to be in the fourth line of the top sheet. Course it is, it's John Petrucci.

Little way down...

What if all that I believe
For a moment I (was?) lost

Quick moment of self-awareness - this kind of thing might be part of the reason they never do studio updates. Alright, moment over, let's do this thang.

First word in the fourth line says "Paralyzed" I think "Paralyzed like a" which replaces the part he crossed out... And then something somthing "flame"?

In case anyone's having trouble mucking in, here's a version that's been rotated, stretched, and had the levels adjusted.

Paralyzed looks like a replacement for the thing crossed out beneath it - "Paralyzed like a," arrow, "<??> to a flame." Moth's the cliché, but it doesn't look like the word moth.

The part that's circled, the last word looks like "soul" then the line under that, the last word has to be "stoic"

Then under that, the part that stacked is "Every story is a (moment?) with every step I take."

Or, "with every story I (something)" take wouldn't make sense...

"With every step I▓ take" looks definitely right for that line.

Above it, the circled line, it looks like "Only xxxx xxxxx for spares." I'd agree with "soul" at the end of the circle.

There's a line underneath that though, so maybe it's "with every step I take" isn't the end of the phrase.

Here's what I see:

(Hue?)

every person is a story
begging to be told

hypnotized clueless
paralyzed (??)

(??) like a (???) to a flame

What if all that I believe

for a moment I we (??)
(??)

empty (?????????????)

(circled) cared you a soul

That's all I could read from that.

also

an angel in disguise

Honestly, I think we're getting VERY close to a single.

I've got the underlined ones as "hypnotized" and "powerless," (specifically, I saw "Pxxxxless," and I'm guessing the middle) but can see clueless too now if I squint. Could be either!

Wait a second... Every story is a moment might not be linked to the line below it... What if it's something like, "Every story is a moment (carried within a soul)"?

Yes! That's carried! Nice!

And "upon" after it, I think - carried upon a soul.
