It hasn't showed up on the band's actual facebook page yet (I found it on Meme Theater and Progressive Metal Cereal Guy), so I'm not too sure. It is pretty cool though.

Yeah it's not the real album cover.

Most certainly not the real cover for anything. There are jagged pixels in the fonts (which means that this image was created SOLELY at this resolution and isn't a scan of a cover), and all of the different components have differing levels of blurriness, suggesting a poor copy-paste job. Looks really fake.

I realized that when I saw it wasn't on the official page.

Not real by any means, but it's... weird how easy it is to imitate Syme's DT covers.

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

There are all kinds of DT Facebook pages posting this, and every comment is like "Wow, this looks great!" Honestly, that's a terrible-looking cover. Miles below DT standards. I will be seriously disappointed if they ever used anything like that.

They kind of did....the fake cover has a similar vibe to BC&SL imo.

We'll see.

I just hope the new album turns out even better than Octavarium (their best album in my opinion)

So when Pandora has floating chunks of rock, everyone is all like "ewww", "stupid", "James Cameron sucks dick"... but when DT could possibly have it on an album cover, everyone is all like  :metal

The ideas in the artwork are nice I think, but the execution isn't so good. Very Syme-y though. And the title isn't all that DT, but it's a great title, I would expect them to pick something like that.

It is a bit like BC&SL, but that cover was consistent and well-executed. It has very nice artwork and feels like a whole piece. This, on the other hand, feels really frgmented and random, like the art for Awake, which I also really dislike. It's uber-pretentious.

I think the problem is when DT tries to include too many things. It happens pretty often, and it looks awful. It's better when it's simpler. That's what makes the art for ToT, SDoIT, and Octavarium so great.

That cover is 100% fake, if people started going around putting the Traces in Water (on the fake 12th album thread https://www.dreamtheaterforums.org/boards/index.php?topic=35334.msg1491247#msg1491247), people would think it was even more real. People are gullible.

Not sure what else I can add to this. I'm sure a 4 year old is more competent in Photoshop.
