A bit off-topic, but what's happening with James' solo album? Has anybody heard anything?

YES! Jens Borgen is mixing/mastering it at the moment. This was posted by Matt Guillory on his FB this week.

Good. Jens Bogren seems to be almost synonymous with great albums.
Yeah, Static Impulse sounded amazing so I'm hoping for more of that quality :)

I wonder if this album we a continuation of the style on Static Impulse, or something else entirely....

Dubstep, perhaps?

My impression is that there would be less screamo/growling vocals but with the same heaviness that SI had. And with Peter Wichers from Soilwork, I would think the heaviness of the record will be upped a bit more.

I actually like dubstep, but to hear it on a Dream Theater album would be very off pissing.

I would be extremely surprised to hear any dubstep on a DT record.
On a JLB solo record though, maybe.

He said that he respected Skrillex for what he did musically, I think. And that his son was a fan of his. :D

JLB Skrillex colab? I'm down
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I think he's sitting on a table inbetween the couches. And I think Mangini found Petrucci's hair straightener.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

I guess JLB had to sacrifice his ass for the symmetry in the shot.

Funny how the have the rhythm section in one chair, the solo section in the other and the vocalist alone in the middle.  :)

Sycsa is perhaps the most brilliant and insightful man I have ever encountered.

I can't see any mics on MM kit which means he's either done with his tracking or they have not begun yet, i'm not sure but of course it could also mean diddly-squat.

He doesn't need any mics, he is MIKE Mangini.

More or less pointless to choose to answer that question when no actual answer exists.

Though I guess they hadn't already said that in interviews or whatever when they filmed this

I am not sure what is worse:

The fact that that is the best question a fan could come up with (like they would tell us right now if they knew anyway, or the fact that the band chose that lame question to answer instead of picking one that is actually interesting.

Yeah, that actually makes me wonder if they're not just taking all the questions and answering them one by one, without filtering out the pointless ones.
