^ Oh wait it was Les Claypool.

He said a fan jokingly shook hands really hard and so Les doesn't shake hands anymore.

That's why I only shook hands with JLB.

Your handshake to JLB could be the handshake that makes him drop his microphone onstage.

On the other hand JP shakes hands with everybody, while looking them straight in the eye, I've seen him do this on more than one occasion. You go to him for an autograph, he signs, then extends you the hand, shakes it and thanks you. I think it's very classy of him.

But it didn't. In fact, it made him more awesome. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Not to mention you have a good chance of running upon one of those assholes who think you aren't a man unless you turn someones hand into roadkill when shaking it.  Uggh, could only imagine if I was a pro musician and someone did that to my hand...

Not hating on a firm shake, but you know the kind I'm talking about.  It's like they are trying to shatter every finger-bone in your hand or something.

.....something that Eddie Izzard refers to as the "small cock handshake."

Maybe even the Killing Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaandshake
Perhaps you should ask bosk to reverse the "e" and "a" in the second half of your user name.

I'd like to be the first to suggest that this becomes the new internet craze similar to the harlem shake.

A dance called the killing hand shake performed to the killing hand by DT.

You heard it here first folks!

Well how many of us around the world are on this forum? Man, if each one of us in all these different countries made one video of the killing hand shake, it would be an Internet sensation in two seconds!

Very very very very very true. And that's why we Dream Theater fans don't subscribe to the "make money now, do what you want later." The make money now part never really happens.

James hates shaking hands.  He told me that he much prefers exchanging punches to the trachea.

At the Meet & Greet in 2011, the organizers were kind of adamant we try not to shake hands with them.  It was one of the first five shows of the tour so they didn't want to spread germs.  James and JM were the last two people at the table and the two I had the most compliments for.  Both reached out their hand to shake mine.  Small gesture but still kind of cool.

When I met Derek Sherinian after a Billy Idol concert, he was signing a bunch of autographs for people that probably had no clue who he was.  I took out my FII CD and complimented him.  He paused and gave me a sincere "Thanks a lot man" and stuck out his hand for me to shake.  Only person out of the 20 or so that got a handshake.

Sometimes its the little things that leave the biggest impression.

Yeah, that was the main reasoning at the show I went to.. But that's why I brought my "I  :heart My Penis" hand sanitizer.

What is the longest the guys have taken to write and record an album?
The creation and destruction of harmonic and 'statistical' tensions is essential to the maintenance of compositional drama. Any composition (or improvisation) which remains consonant and 'regular' throughout is, for me, equivalent to watching a movie with only 'good guys' in it, or eating cottage cheese.

I'd wager Falling into Infinity wins that one by a country mile. Long, long process - they actually wrote Raise the Knife for the ACoS EP, which I suppose is the start of production, on paper. More accurately, and sticking to songs that made it to the album - Take Away My Pain was written in March 1996, New Millennium was written in Feburary 1997. Full year of writing.

Don't know the recording schedule, but Feb. '97 was the month they finished the last demo.
