My question: Will there be lyrics by Myung this time as well?

Will you recycle the song structures of Awake this time? :neverusethis:

j/k...

Will there be some new elements or something surprising that we haven't heard from DT before?

It's not useful to ask for some words on the general musical/lyrical direction of the new album, right? :D

Ooh, what I really, really want to know is: Are they filming any part of the recording process in the studio for this album? Can we expect any kinds of bonus DVDs or some sort of promotional online in-studio featurettes for this album?

The Systematic Chaos documentary was by far the best bonus disc I've ever seen from any music album. I really wanna see more stuff like that.

12-string is on the song Octavarium under the flute during the first vocal section.

But I think he has used 12-string on most albums, although usually just for layers of sound.

Yeah. Now that you mention it, it's all coming back to me.  ;D

There's a 12 string on " On The Backs Of Angels " intro.

Its actually 6 string clean electric (with a 6 string clean electric with an effect (phaser?)) and 6 string acoustic with several layers of each to create that 12 string feel.

Yeah, that documentary was great. I'd like to know if they're doing that again too.

I know there's a new documentary on the Luna Park DVD.

They said it was " a kind of follow up to The Spirit Carries On " Documentary.

That's pretty cool, but I'm guessing it's gonna be more similar to the one on the Budokan DVD. I'd really like to see more of the writing and recording process. Anyway, I just wanna know if this new album is gonna have anything of the sort.

EDIT: Oh, something just occurred to me! What's the status on Ytsejam Records? I mean, I know JLB said he was recording all the live shows, and archiving that stuff, and was gonna do something with it. So is there anything on the horizon?

I haven't heard any news on the Ytsejam Bootlegs but I highly doubt we are going to see something this year. I mean, there's the new live release in May, and a few months later the new release. I would be really suprised if they did release something, but if they do, I would expect something in the end of 2013 or early 2014.

I think they should release something for that in the summer. I mean, their new album will probably come in Septemberish again, like ADTOE, so, I think it would be a great way to kind of hold the fans over while we're all bursting with anticipation.

But a summer release would overlap with the Live in Luna Park DVD wouldn't? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for an Official Bootleg (long overdue) but from a marketing/sales point of view,  I would think they would loose a bit of sales with such a short time in between releases...Unless it's a totally different setlist from the Luna Park release. There's that High Voltage great quality video from that festival. There's some material, but it seems its almost the same as the LIve in Luna DVD

Luna Park DVD comes out in May. If the album comes out in September, then the bootleg could be released right in between, in mid July or something. I think it's a decent gap.

I mean, we don't know when they'll be starting touring again. If they'll spend another summer doing festivals, then yeah, that might be a little difficult on people's wallets. But if not, then might as well release something to hold us over.

but they cant rely on all sales being made in the first month of luna park being released.  even though thats when the majority are, thats way too close together for people to buy two different concert dvds.  just like you wouldn't do a full evening with tour but also do a hour long off date in each city of the tour, whats the sense of that?  they want to make money for each product on its own, and each product needs its own release period to actually sell well.  just my 2 cents

Well, it doesn't have to be another concert DVD. It could be a CD of live songs they've done on Dramatic tour, especially the songs that they didn't play at Luna Park.

I mean, personally, I'll be getting the Blu-Ray as soon as it comes out, and I know that half-way through summer, I'm going to want something else from DT to help hold me over until the album comes out. And sure, they might release a single or something, god I hope they do. But I'd love to get something else.

James said that it was just a matter of making sense, with the regard of future release dates. I would be shocked if they wre to release anything before the new album comes out. He sort of implied in the famous interview that thinks would develop that way.

Kanske det ;)

But perhaps it's too early to ask for anything lyric related, I don't know.

I usually have a slight idea what I want the lyrical theme to be when starting to write the music for a song so there is a posibility that it's not to soon if you go simply by if the information exists or not. But then they might not want to tell yet, and then it'll be to soon.

Actually, it's an acoustic guitar using Nashville tuning. That is, he used light gauge strings and tuned the bottom 4 up an octave, to emulate a 12 string. It's on another song too, can't remember which though.

It should be a compulsory Sig and on SFAM they should say death is not the end... Only a matter of making sense.

I didn't even know it was possible to tune the strings on a guitar that high. A full octave up is a lot more tension on the strings, I don't imagine it would be good for the guitar to be in that tuning for very long. The idea is an interesting one though.

Which is what the light gauge strings are for, they're made for higher tunings.

This.

Hence when you go for lower tunings why you put at least 11s up to 13s on (depending on the tuning). Requires some adjustments, but not bad for the instrument at all.

Thanks for the clarification. I would have thought the tension would be a lot higher even with lower gauge, because an octave is quite significant. Shows what I know about guitars though. :loser:

Wow, DTF is getting technical! :D

How audible is the difference between a proper 12 strings and a 6 strings tuned that way? Do you have exaples? :)
