I don't recall acoustic guitars on Train Of Thought.  :-X

Endless Sacrifice
You can hear a clean electric guitar on the top of the acoustic one, though (correct me if I'm wrong).

Still two separate tracks though.  It's not one track like the piezo/clean split for the intro to ITNOG

I thought those clean guitar parts on endless Sacrifice and ITNOG was electric guitar, or at the very least electric-acoustic S/FX. You can't have acoustic guitar on TRAIN OF THOUGHT that was their heavy abum :metal (pianos and cellos were ok though)

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

LaBrie solo album.  :yarr
I am definitely looking forward to that, possibly just as much as I am the next Dream Theater album. I just can't get enough of Static Impulse lately. :metal

LaBrie solo album.  :yarr

Nice! Can't wait!

A DT album AND a JLB album in a single year? Every other band in the world could take a vacation, and it would still be considered a fantastic year in terms of music.

Shouldn't we be getting a JP solo album soon, as well, or should I just give up on that idea for now? :lol

Also, a JR solo album this year would be awesome, considering how much new gear he has. I'd love another covers album, to be honest, but an album of originals (with tons of guests) would be cool too!

There's a new Frost* album??  sweet.  Dividing Line is one of the best prog songs ever.  I hope it's like that.  Add JR and it sounds really promising.

Dunno, maybe he'll only join DT guys on studio when they're done writing/recording instrumentals. I don't know what's the scheme.

No way, it's too early. I would say that they will end that phase around April. It's been a little more than a month since they entered the studio...

James finished recording vocals for ADTOE in late May 2011 and the schedule will probably be similar so it isn't likely to be ready until the end of Spring.

Dream Theater finished writing ADTOE in March of 2011. They have been in the studio since January (same for ADTOE), so if they follow the same schedule, we can expect them to finish writing this month and then they will re-record everything for the final product.

A DT album AND a JLB album in a single year? Every other band in the world could take a vacation, and it would still be considered a fantastic year in terms of music.

And a DT live DVD. They're certainly on a roll this year!

------

Another highlight on the road to DT12 will of course be the announcement of the Dream Theater drummer in late April. Even if it's still Mangini, they should still announce that he is the drummer. Just to reassure us.

Every 28 April will be, starting 2013, marked with the release of a lenghty documentary where it will be shown DT calling MM at the most impossible hours or situations to welcome him to the family.
