I wonder why the NordStage is setup in synth mode, while he has such awesome 'real' synths.

But well, crazytown, I'd love to have a setup like that. Looks like Rick Wakeman style.

In the studio he wants certain keyboard for that distinct sound and it's just so much easier to have one keybord on stage with different patches.

I was just about to ask why the need for so many keyboards when there are patches and samples for one single keyboard to use, but that answers my question.

I just mean that the NordStage sounds (mainly the synth section) doesn't contribute anything to the beast synths he has standing there.
The Nord does have great natural B3's and Rhodes.

Also, looks like Dream Theater's 12th album will be slightly influenced by Rush's Signals - just look, there's Subdivisions!!!

It looks like he's trying to work out the bpm for the same thing but in groupings of 3 rather than 4.

144 BPM for 4 subdivisions

192 for 3 subdivisions ?

One example I can think of is in "Panic Attack", during the solo section - MP is playing the bass drum at constant 16th notes, and in one moment he is playing in 4/4, the tempo feels slow, but then it shifts into 6/8, with the same 16th note bass pulse. The groupings change from 4 to 3, in that instance, and so the tempo "changes" and feels faster.

Looks like they're doing something similar here. It's amazing that MM is actually taking the time to calculate BPM, which means he's obviously trying to nail some drum part(s) that require knowing exactly how fast that part of the song is going to be.

Maybe they were working it out for the studio click?

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.
