As always, it is great to see a lot of acoustic guitar, although JP often does acoustic in the background behind a electric, to make it sound more full, so that doesn't necessarily mean there will be a lot of lead acoustic stuff, but we can always dream, right?  :coolio

There might be. It seems like Jordan's toning down his solos as well, only three songs with a solo space for keys.

Noel Gallagher is about the only person who can do that and still sell shitloads :lol

On Be Here Now : " It's just Pub Rock Bollocks. "

On Shoulder Of Giants : " It's not great. There's two shit songs on it. "

Heh yea.  I thought BHN was one of their best actually.

Side note: Liam's band Beady Eye is releasing their new album next week.  His voice sounds the best it's sound since the 90's!  His voice has been shot since then.

If Dream Theater can make a kick ass song about rare vintages, imagine what they can do with a song about tuna fish!

Or they're trolling the fans who will pull still images out of videos and ponder what the song titles mean, by putting up really awful fake song titles.

One of the songs was titled "EPIC"

Does this mean we have a big piece of music coming, or is it 'of epic nature' like Breaking All Illusions?

I just hate him as a person. Always mouthing off in the press , slagging everyone off and trying to make himself look good. But he's not particularly bright and his facade is so transparent that it's actually pitifully amusing.  He can backtrack on something he has said in an instant if it furthers his career or makes him any money. Hence going on X factor after saying he hates it or playing oasis songs live after criticising Noel for doing so - even though Noel wrote them :lol

Interesting that "Epic" seems to have been written so late in the sessions as they typically write the album's epic first. For reference, does anyone know which order the songs from ADTOE were written?

Anyways, also interesting is that the "Opening" (and instrumental) track was written last. Backwards, but interesting. It makes me wonder if the opening track will be a sort of Overture, containing themes and motifs from some or all of the other 8 songs in it? Why else write a track that is blatantly labeled "Opening" so late in the writing process (almost 3 full months after the first song was finished) unless it had something to do with having to incorporate it in to the rest of the album?

Maybe we ARE getting a(n at least musically) concept(ual) album?!  It'd be interesting, and an odd mirror to SFAM, which had two instrumentals in it, one of which was an overture. I do like the working titles though! This looks promising. Assuming the album will be a full 75-78 minutes long, 9 songs is pretty sweet, and I can imagine the track lengths being similar to ADTOE and SFAM's scenes (two or three over 10 minutes, one or two under 5, and the rest between 5 and 10).

Wait, does the picture imply that each song besides #1 will have a guest musician?

I think that it's very likely that it will be conceptual in the way that a Dramatic Turn of Events was "conceptual": theres a genreal theme that permiates throughout all of the songs, although none of them are connected musically or lyrically.
I think the intro could be one of two things: An epic opener something in the vein of the first track of periphery II, so if you aren't familiar with that, it's basically a huge riff-like thing that would be ideal to play as an intro for a live performance, and would be done dream theater style of course: thematic and epic.
But the intro could also be a noodly thing that says "we're DT and we're not f***ing around!" with musical references to upcoming tracks ala overture1928

I think it's the opposite. I think a blank space means the track won't have it, a cross means it still needs to be done, and a tick means it's been done.

So does that mean that only track 5 will have vocals?

That would imply seven instrumental tracks.

My assumption:

Cross = won't be heard on the track
Tick = done
Blank = not done yet or will not be heard on the track

Seems to be there will be three instrumentals.  Three songs have both lyrics and vocals Xed out.

Couldn't "guest musician" be the orchestra making it entirely plausible that they are on many of the tracks?

That said, I agree with ?'s interpretations of the board, which means that some of the guest musician blanks do not have guest musicians.

This.

Track 5 is obviously the instrumental. And by all songs besides "1" having Guests may be some kind of orchestration from Eren Basbug, not really guest vocals IMO.

What does "Sprinkles" mean? :D

Also, it's interesting to see the time it took to compose each song. It can give us a very rough idea of what is what, along with the instruments used. For instance, the writing of "Smoothen" was wrapped the very same day they finished penning "Epic".
It could very well mean that #8 is a two-minute closer or a coda employing a few themes from the previous song or songs.

Or I could just be wrong and it could be a completely standalone song, but I think my previous guess has at least a degree of likeliness :D

They are not Dream Theater anymore. This next album will be the first album by the electro-pop band Dream Theatre.

I figure "sprinkles" mean anything they decide to add later. Or maybe they're taking the cake analogy literally.

Those are all working titles for the songs, look at the wikipedia page for Systematic Chaos, they had some weird working titles, for instance, In The Presence of Enemies was originally going to be called The Pumpkin King, etc etc.

The Clover, and Along for the Ride don't sound half bad though. Epic is pretty generic, though this obviously means that Track 7 or Track 8 (If the opening goes to the top) is a long song. I'm excited, but this probably means they don't have an ACTUAL tracklist yet.
