First song of 2013
« on: January 01, 2013, 02:37:05 AM »
What was the first song you listened to in the new year? Did you put any special thought into it or was it just a random selection?

I have this tradition where I always listen to New Years Day by U2 as the first song each year.

The Offspring - The Future is Now

Now that I think about it, that does sound like I picked it specifically for the New Year, but I totally didn't.

No special choice for me. I think technically it happened to be a live bootleg of DT - Afterlife from 1993 as I was checking for an F#, but that was more skimming than a proper listen.
First proper song was either something by Journey or Foreigner, I believe. Either Don't Stop Believin' or Hot Blooded.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Wasn't going to put much thought into it, but started with Threshold/The Hours (pretty good summary for my life lately), and then moved on to Masterplan/I'm Gonna Win with the intent to adjust my attitude for 2013.
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad

For some reason I wanted to listen to Systematic Chaos, so I guess my first song of 2013 happened to be The Ministry Of Lost Souls.

We made a conscious decision to listen to extended 'Road Salt' (the song) by Pain of Salvation across midnight, while smooching and then watched the fireworks. It was meaningful as it's one of my favourite songs and the song I listened to on repeat sat at my mum's bedside as she died, yesterday was two years to the day that we buried her. And PoS is the guy I'm seeing's favourite band... so yeah. I'll remember that NYE. Beautiful.
Every story needs to have an ending, we might as well give up all this pretending and clear the air...

Goodbye to Everything by Between The Buried And Me. Wasn't even thinking about playing something appropriate, I just popped Parallax II on for music for some late night reading.  :lol

I've not listened to a full song yet this year.  Unsustainable is a fine choice. Will probably be Supremacy, though.

Learning to Live.

I saw this thread earlier, before I'd listened to anything and thought "ooh, better kick off the year with a good one"  ;D

I listened to Metropolis late on Christmas Eve and while I was listening, I thought to myself "I'm sure I listened to this about the same time last Christmas Eve" so I checked my LFM stats and I had listened to it at that time last year. Might make it a little tradition :D
