-May Do One Later-
Beowulf

(Pm/write below to get on the list)

Well,here's my first 3 songs!

20)Fountain Of Salmacis
My first Genesis song. Love it. I really like the last 3 minutes. One of my favorite Genesis solo sections.

19)The Lamia
Great song off The Lamb. I love the vocals here. I also love the outro. Beautiful solo.

18)Second Home By The Sea
Aww man. Love the keyboards on here. Not too forced and awesome. Also, great outro for the side. Fun song.

I'd like to go after you.

The Fountain of Salmacis and The Lamia are great.  :tup Second Home by the Sea is decent, but not as good as the first part IMO.

The Lamia should be higher.

I wonder what number 1 will be :neverusethis:

17)Behind The Lines
One of my favorite intros ever. Behind The Lines actually lives up to that amazing intro and delivers. Pretty much one of the best songs from the popish era...

16)The Burning Rope
Best song off the album. I love the lyrics and the vocal delivery. Not too complex, just plain simple but great song.

15)Eleventh Earl Of Mar
Ass-kickingly good album opener. I love Tony Banks' work on this track.

Yes. My write-ups suck. But hey! This is gonna be a short top 20 list. I should keep going fast right? Anyone else wanna join?

I'm in.

Earl is awesome, but of the Duke opening 3-some, Duchess has always had more of an emotional impact to it for me.

If you're talking jams, what about the second half of "The Waiting Room"?

Another jam that pops into my head is the Lamb medley from 1986 (I think it was on the second Genesis box set) that ends with Supper's Ready.

But to me, Supper's Ready is the single most-definitive Genesis song.  As great as 2nd Home By The Sea is, or Duke's Travels/Duke's End, I don't think anything can surpass Supper's Ready overall.

Burning Rope is great, especially the guitar solo. Rutherford's best electric guitar moment, probably. Eleventh Earl of Mar is one of my top faves. Behind the Lines is also cool. :tup

14)Fly On A Windshield

Holy damn this song is awesome. The solo section is great and the keyboards is really a highlight with the cool effects. One of the highlights from The Lamb.

13)The Knife

The first "epic" by Genesis. Was really sweet when i saw it live. (By a tribute band -.-) The song has that trademark Genesis sound. I also really like the end to the song. Goosebumps. Every time.

12)Dance On A Volcano

One of my favorite Phil era songs. A classic indeed. I love the intro and the keybord work in the solo section. Wonderful.

The Knife and Dance are two of my favorites. Fly is also nice, but a lot of Lamb songs work better in context of the album than as individual tracks.

11)White Mountain

Awesome song from Trespass. Love the chorus in this one. Such an angelic song. Wonderful. This song just defines why I like Gabriel's voice so much.

10)The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway

Awesome opener. Amazing piano intro and i also love the bass work done here. Beautiful.

9)The Cinema Show

WOAH! Now from a short little title track we move on to a badass epic. This song has one of the greatest intros ever. The reason this song isn't higher is because i listened to the living shit out of it. Too much to say the least. When Phil and Gabriel go "Cinema Show!" i cringe. I find that really annoying for some reason. But the keyboards steal the show. Perfect. It's just that i grew out of this one a while back. Still, that solo is amazing.  :hefdaddy

8)I Know What I Like

Weird, but i seem to love this song. One of my first Genesis songs and in my opinion on of their best. While this might not be as gigantic as epics like Supper's Ready It's catchy as heck and very fun.

7)Return Of The Giant Hogweed

For some reason i love the intro to this song. I also love that guitar solo. Sadly,it's quite low on the mix but you can still hear it. Check out live versions of this. I remember one where Gabriel was doing this hilarious dance when the drums kick in.

6)Can-Utility And The Coastliners

Very underrated song with an excellent solo section. Love that intro with the acoustic guitar and Gabriel's vocals. He's like whispering at first and then the song evolves into this badass minefield. Gorgeous.

5)Dancing With The Moonlight Knight

One of my first Genesis songs. I still don't know if it's Moonlit or Moonlight. Ah well. Amazing album opener. Seriously, this song is just an amazing sign of what great stuff is up next on the album. Damn,I love this album!

Sorry for the wait. Let me end this list right here and right now.

4)Supper's Ready

The obvious one. One of the greatest pieces of music that I've ever experienced. Now go and listen to this yourselves.

3)Looking For Someone

One of the best intros to any song ever. And I guess the "surprise" of this list. This is the first song from Genesis with their signature "prog" sound. It kicks ass. The song also proves how underrated Anthony Phillips is as a guitarist. Trespass is a usually overlooked album. Just give this another spin.

2)Firth Of Fifth

Dat piano intro. The first time I heard of this song,I wasn't too big on prog. So I always skipped it. That went for the ENTIRE album. I always listened to the intros for like a minute and changed the song. I know. Stupid. Well, this song kicks ass. When the vocals come in,the song has this epic BAM feel. You know what I mean. Oh and the guitar solo is nothing but PERFECT. Love it.

1)The Musical Box

My favorite song of all time. No brainer. You all knew this was gonna be number 1. There you go. That intro riff is pretty much the first time I heard of good music. At the age of 4,I was blown away. Seriously, the song is like a box (lololol) that opens up and reveals the gold inside. The song gives you that feel of goosebumps that you can get anywhere and anytime. That, is when you notice "Wow…I love this." It's THAT moment when you notice that you love a certain genre or a band. It's an amazing feel. Anyways,go and give Nurcery Cryme another spin. I know I will. Oh and btw If you didn't check out my top 50 albums list. Cause I love shameless advertising my other list. Deal with it.
