A Dream Theater Shade Of Christmas
« on: December 24, 2012, 04:40:26 PM »
Marry Christmas to you all, DT side! Let's have a short run of Christmas-themed songs performed by our favourite band  :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NavgL2L57C4 - Oh Holy Night, Live Acoustic

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoNcADD4IyU - Oh Holy Night, Live 1998 (raspy G5! + Paradigm Shift Intro)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PriQtP45RHI - Oh Holy Night, Live 1992 (clean G5!)

Furthermore, there must be taken into account all the songs written or performed by JR in his 2002 album Christmas Sky, and of course *snip*!

So, enjoy your Christmas, whoever you are. Users, mods, admins, lurkers, lurkers from within the band, wives or biographers of the band. And Mike Portnoy, Charlie, Derek, Kevin and Chris Collins too!  :rollin

Let's not forget all the live versions of "The Killing Hand" which have Sweet Silver Bells in the extended instrumental section.

Plus I've always considered Eve to be a semi-Christmas themed song.

Yes you can dance to 6:00. You'll need a lot of room though.

The SFAM vid was awesome however, I  really, really struggle to watch Portnoy's camera antics anymore.
I crossed the crooked step.

It's nice to delve in the past sometimes, since we are not really likely to see them anymore if not on such means.

Yeah, it is nice. A lot of us got into DT in the Portnoy/Rudess era so it's nice to see something from the beginning of it :metal

Sorry guys, the link I deleted is an official release from the Xmas 2000 CD.

Merry Christmas anyway.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Would someone please elaborate on what did James say/do that you guys laughed so hard at in the censored video?

The secret element to humor is surprise; for me, it's pretty funny when someone who is usually good-natured acts all grumpy and swears, especially since you expect them all to be "yaay merry Christmas". Hope I cleared it up :)

Nah that wasn't my point lol, I'd probably get the funny part if I saw/heard the video; the thing is I didn't get to see it before it was "snipped" out. So I have no idea which video that even was or what happened there and that's in fact what I wanted to know. I don't need a link or something like that, just to know what he said and the context.

Ah you didn't see :D Okay, so they're filming Christmas greetings for the (then, '00, silly me) new fanclub CD and they're on a soundcheck and everyone's cheerful and JP and JR are playing Christmas music awfully, and JLB comes along and says "I just asked them to get all these fucking people the fuck outta here, now what's going on?" and the person behind the camera says "you do realize this is for the Christmas CD?" and then he says "I love you all. Now get the fuck outta here. Please." ;D

His later quotes in the clip include "that's acid, and that's heroin" while pointing at pills. I shall say no more :lol

Maybe we should say that the video we are talking about was shot 21st October 2000. Which is why James didn't understand right away the Christian mood.  :lol
