What are your opinions about noses? I think they are completely useless since you can breath from your mouth!

The sense of smell is actually most of what gives you a sense of taste. As a keen cook, I like mine. Sometimes a whacking great triangle on your face is very useful.

You are right! Since we smell everything by using our fingers evolution just failed to eliminate this organ.

Needless to say that breathing through the nose warms the air and cleans some particles from it which would otherwise be inhaled into the lungs -> more infections of the lower respiratory tract and possibly also more lung cancers......

But breathing through your mouth makes you a mouthbreather, no place you want to be.  The sense of smell is very important, although probably mostly for little understood reasons, such as the aforementioned pheremonal data, but also for applications beyond sex - for example, schizophrenics may emit a certain odor that causes people to shun them, and in turn the social isolation makes them even crazier.  *sniffs self*  "Home made" magical incense serves as a good medium for meditation and the odors of herbs can trigger particularized emotions and thus help in one's journey to self-improvement.  (Too much salvia smoking seems to screw with one's sense of smell, on an ancillary note.)

I hate my nose. I've got one of those "ski-slope" noses due to too many breaks. Every fight I got into during my school years resulted in a broken nose. It was just too big of a target.
