Better than the last song, but standard Frontiers fare. Wrong thread?

Oh yeah.  But I only posted here because a thread was made.

You're good. I was joking about my own posting. Nobody understands me. :'(

I guess mate, cause I still don't get it I'm sorry.  :mehlin

It's solid

I'd say quite solid.  :D

I managed to pick up a copy of this.  I think it's actually pretty good.  There is definitely some much more creative songwriting on here from Magnus.  Some things on here actually made me think of the Revenge for some reason.

I liked the Allen songs; the duets are ok; disliked (at best) the Olzon songs.  Something about her voice just doesn't click with me.

Right there with you. Anette just doesn't do it for me. Russell sounds great as he is not channeling Angry Russ on this. A whole album of just Russ would have been better, in my opinion. Just about any other female vocalist probably would have been better.

Otherwise, I do find the album enjoyable and a good listen.
beul ni teh efac = Lube In The Face / That has to be wrong.  :lol / EDIT: Oh, it's Blue! I'm an idiot.
Pardon the interruption, but I just had to run in and celebrate the majesty of Lube in the Face as highest moment in roulette history

I'm not a big fan of female vocalists, but I think Anette sounds okay.  Would have prefered Jorn for sure but I think her songs are written pretty well for her voice.  They have a slight Nightwish type feel to them.

Anette has posted on her various social media that she has just finished recording her vocals for the second Allen/Olzon album.

Fuck yeah.  I loved the first one.  Hopefully Magnus at the helm again.

The first album was a little underwhelming, but I like both vocalists, so I'll still definitely check it out.  Anette's solo album this year was much better than this to me.

More of the same though.  Nothing flash here at all unfortunately.

Clicked on the link hoping you were wrong...the song began and ended, and I didn't even notice!

I wish I liked this, but it just doesn't have that it factor for me. And that intro sounds way to close to The Final Countdown.

This song sounds like hundreds I've heard.  I'll say to myself, "not bad, solid".  But after I hear it, there is nothing that I can remember and just forget about it.

It was lackluster for a Magnus opener too.  Magnus nailed it with the Ferrymen, maybe this will be the leftovers lol.

Huh, I kinda liked it.  Tough crowd.  I remember the new Arch Enemy and The Halo Effect tracks being praised here and skewered elsewhere, but no luck on this one.  You never know what's going to appeal to people, I guess.

I'll spin it again later.  There was nothing bad about it.

Just listened. It's fine, nothing bad about it like you said but it didn't really leave anything left to be desired.

This is nicer than the first song;

So funny Magnus really doesn't seem to give a fuck playing the exact same solo in every single song.

That seems to be another Frontiers criteria, along with other things.

I thought it was just a lyric video, but it says official video, yikes!!

Both Russell and Anette sound great, but the song is ass. Magnus is a one trick pony. I like Heart Healer, but his reuse of the same vocal melodies or that one single vocal melody that keeps showing up is annoying, and I haven't really been impressed with a lot of the stuff I've heard with his name on it. He's generic AOR guy, which I guess is fitting, since he's on Frontiers. If he's writing everything himself, he needs an editor or producer because the lyrics aren't great, and how many times can you write the same sappy 80s inspired power ballad?

The Magnificent in all it's derivativeness got it right. Cheesy 80s metal love songs that are actually well written. I'd much rather hear more Nightwish lite from Anette, because even her guitarist ripping off the Storytime riff for every album is still better than this.

The Magnificent is a brilliant album, but its one album.  If those 2 guys churned out as much as Magnus has, they would have run dry a while ago.

A lot of Magnus' early stuff easily is as good as that Magnificent album.

Better, imo.  And yeah... the excessive quantity from MK sometimes means the quality suffers.  He's still put out some good/great stuff over the last 10 years.  The Magnificent (while appropriately named) hasn't.  :lol

Yeah, I'd rate a lot of his early stuff better, but not sure if that's just personal choice.

Magnus does it now because its his job obviously.  Can't fault him.

Having a listen to this new one, it's pretty decent.  Some nice heavier moments and melodies are good enough to keep your attention.  It's Magnus by numbers but he always does a good job a make something we've heard before enjoyable.

Same here. Very generic vocal melodies, nothing interesting. Magnus Karlson by the books unfortunately, nothing relevant or new.

Chad at least remembered he spun it at least to post about it.
