The Wall? Scenes from a Memory? A Night at the Opera?

Sound like pretty dump-y albums to me.
Perhaps you should ask bosk to reverse the "e" and "a" in the second half of your user name.

Stereolab - Dots And Loops, Emperor Tomato Ketchup
I love Stereolab. Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements is my favourite though.

Yay, someone else likes Stereolab here!   The album you mentioned is really good.

Meh, can't stand their later stuff IMO, especially this album, but I'm only really a fan of Frogstomp and Freak Show.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

I first heard this in 2000 and it sounded really good to me but was a little challenging to fully grasp even though I'd been listening to a lot of DT and Symphony X that year. There were an absurd amount of cool riffs and sections but, much like Opeth but to a far greater degree, there was so much going on that I'd frequently get "lost" and have trouble remembering what parts were in what songs.

Fortunately, there was more than enough appeal for me to keep at it and it's remained my unquestionable favorite album since 2001. Literally. Even though DT and Opeth have been the only bands to occupy the spot of being my favorite band since 2000 (DT 2000-04 and Opeth 2004-present) no single album by either of them comes remotely close to A Sceptic's Universe for me.

Tracks to look out for: Insect, Fountainhead, Excessit, Cloud Constructor (the mellow bass section at 3:08 is a fantastic contrast to the rest of the album.)

Endymion is like the best song ever. Not really, but it's such a great track, and the whole album is just really diverse. I really love the atmosphere on it.

The Enid - In The Region Of The Summer Stars
The Besnard Lakes - The Besnard Lakes Are The Roaring Night
Cold Fairyland - Seeds On The Ground
Lin Di - Bride In Legend
Pink Floyd - Obscured By Clouds
This is as exciting as superluminal neutrinos. The sexy thing is that this actually exists :D

The three albums-Third Eye Function, The Armageddon Theories, and Colonizing The Sun-released by the late, lamented technical death metal band Theory In Practice. Particularly the latter two, which are two of the best tech death albums you'll ever hear.

Calling that Spiral Architect album challenging is like saying quantum mechanics is hard.  Both are massive understatements, but its a really great album if you like complex as fuck music.

Most people assume it will suck since Shatner can't sing.  But, producer Ben Folds was able to find and arrange songs that really work with Shatner's delivery.

Bela Fleck & The Flecktones - Live At The Quick
Tiles - Window Dressing
Kino - Picture (although I think a few people here know them)
Rewiring Genesis - A Tribute To The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (I also think some might know this album)

I'm sure there's a few more but I cannot think of them at the moment!

If they have show dates, you really owe it to yourself to see them live at least once.  They're SUCH an awesome band live.

Giraffes? Giraffes! - More Skin With Milk-Mouth

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJ50UBCkwl0

Amazing mix of prog, tech stuff, and beautiful instrumental post-rockyness.
Totally wacky weird stuff, done by just a drummer, a guitar player, and a lot of loop pedals, but it's an awesome album.
And I love their titles, I mean:

I enjoy a handful of their early songs, but I prefer the later works, especially Young modern. It's so bizzare and experimental, yet extremely catchy and melodic. Same thing with that The Dissociatives album, I wish Daniel put this band together now that Silverchair is done.

Nil - Nil Novo Sub Sole. Dark and moody, and kind of like more recent King Crimson with a female vocalist (lyrics in French).

Tiles - Window Dressing

This is a nifty one.

Animal Alpha - Pheromones - female fronted hard rock with metal, blues, jazz and some other elements
Animal Alpha - You Pay For the Whole Seat, But You'll Only Need the Edge - heavier and slightly proggy album
Djerv - Djerv - Animal Alpha's vocalist's new band, mixture of rock, heavy metal and black metal
Ministry - Filth Pig - industrial doom/sludge, heaviest album I own and I don't think that music can become much heavier or noisier

When someone asks, I give these, even though no one ever checks them out. But I don't mind, no one would like them anyway.

Um....do they not know how to spell "skeptic"?
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A.
