Poetry focusing on the themes of heat, lust, and damnation
« on: December 10, 2012, 12:57:00 PM »
Very quick quote I need for English Lit. I need to make a quick link to one of my texts concerning the themes of heat, lust, and sin, all being encompassed into one or two quotes, preferably from a recognized poet pre-1900s. I was certain that I'd read a really good quote in Dante's 'Inferno' (The epic poem, not the mediocre video game), but I've just re-read Canto V and it wasn't to be.

So, any poems you can suggest?

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
