Agreed....although at this point, I haven't found an album that wasn't amazing.  (although I haven't heard the two PL albums)

Just waiting to see if it's an album and extras like Road of Bones, or if it's a legit double album. I doubt it's a concept or anything since they've been playing Mome for almost a year now live.

Not sure how they are going to top The Road of Bones. It was a phenomenal release.

Omg. I still only know The Road of Bones but that's one of the best albums I've heard in recent years. I can't wait to hear this.

If anything has the potential to top Arch/Matheos this year for me, it's this one. Listened to The Road of Bones last week and it was still great, if not even better than I remembered it. So stoked for this one.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

I adore the sound of The Road of Bones and am afraid if I go back to their first album I'll get something radically different. I kind of want to play it safe and get one that sounds like TROB because I like it so much (Without Walls is something really special). The piano, electronic beats, smooth singing, I'm craving that sound - what would you suggest next? Open question to everyone too.

I can assure you that Frequency is every bit the equal of Road of Bones. Going back to the first album was a bit of a shock to the system, but it definitely sounds like a long lost Peter Gabriel-era Genesis album.  So if you really enjoy stuff like foxtrot or nursery crime or selling England by the pound, you will probably still like it.

And even though it’s definitely not quite as heavy, I HIGHLY recommend the brand new re-release of Ever.

Dude... I give you my ironclad guarantee that everything from Ever to now is of that caliber. Don't miss out man, especially Ever, Frequency, Seventh House and Subterranea. They are truly special albums. (lol that only leaves out Dark Matter, which many here consider their best album. Seriously man, it's the best six album run of any group out there. All killer, no filler.)

First, apologies for this not being new-album-related. Now onto my regularly scheduled post.

Something just made me giggle. I'm listening to Ever, and in the credits next to each musician, it has in brackets the specific brands of instruments they play. For the singer Peter Nicholls, it just says (Throat, larynx, lungs etc.).  :lol

I haven't been able to get into Genesis but I like IQ.  I own 6 albums (I think) but I haven't really listened to them all that much. I should rectumfy that!

Something that concerns me...it just occurred to me to check, and it turns out September 7th is a Saturday. Albums are released on Fridays. I wonder if it's a typo, because the only "x7th September" that falls on a Friday is the 27th.

They posted on Facebook that the final mixing (or maybe it's not mixing, don't quote me on that) is apparently taking a little longer than they thought and they're aiming to release it at the end of September now, so the 27th sounds likely.

Giving The Seventh House a second spin. The ending of the title track reminds me of the climax to The Province, which I know was released later, but I've been familiar with that track for 5 years vs the 3 days I've known The Seventh House.

I've recognized the similarities as well with those two tracks. The last six minutes of both are kind of cooked from the same recipe, which is just fine with me since they represent 12 of the best minutes IQ has to offer. The Seventh House album is just tremendous beginning to end, but the bookends of Wrong Side and Guiding Light, with the title track in the middle, is for me about the best that IQ has produced. They're just firing on all cylinders, and no mistakes are made. It's perfect music for me.
