I came here to add:  Speaking To Stones - "Elements"

AMAZING band.  :o

Yup, mindblowing stuff, became a contender for album of the year within a week.
Is this gonna cost me money? :D
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Check 'em out on Youtube, TAC

Go for tracks from their latest album "Elements"

I'd put it on par with the best classic Dream Theater stuff, easily.

And to be honest, I think this vocalist is better than LaBrie - Yeah, I went there.

Perhaps you should ask bosk to reverse the "e" and "a" in the second half of your user name.

Galneryus and Versailles. Had something of a Jap year.

Agree about the Healing Stones- very good- but up there with DT? Not for me.

I know I'm late to the party, but it's definitely been Transatlantic for me.

Although I didn't first discover King Crimson this year,  The Crimson Projeckt's performance opening for Dream Theater over the summer gave me a renewed interest and respect for the band.  So much so that I bought Discipline and Three of a Perfect Pair with some of my Christmas cash.  They Won't be here until mid January though.

I discovered djent this year. I had listened to Meshuggah for a few years but never anything else and I didn't really know what it was. In spite of it's bad reputation I have really started to like all the polyrythms and long patterns and heavy sound. That's my biggest discovery this year.

Yes, djent is a genre. Even if it wasn't one before it has become one now, deal with it.

Bought the mp3 album at Amazon!

Wow holy shit this is incredible! Mark Zonder never sounded so good. Great performances. The singer doesn't do to me what Labrie does. He reminds me a little of Joe Lynn Turner but with much more power.

If you like this vocalist, and you enjoy music in a more power metal vein, check out the first two albums from the band Section A

"Parallel Lives" (2009)

"The Seventh Sign"  (2003)

Those two album feature the same vocalist and a killer guitar player.

Be forewarned though, the cheese factor is pretty high, especially with "Parallel Lives"
