So here's a little story...
Back in mid 2011, I was playing bass in a Progressive Metal band called Jovian System, and our lead guitar player was putting together a show at the Cobblestone Village in Mountain Creek Water Park in Vernon, NJ. We were of course meant to be and were the headliner for the show since he was putting it together. He booked two other bands for the show and then told us "Hey, I wanna get these guys called Thank You Scientist to play as well. They're really cool." And he did. They were local boys at the time. Our drummer was familiar with the band as well. No band was paid for this gig either, it was just a showcase at a little spot in the water park on a Saturday afternoon. There was a modest turnout, but everybody seemed to dig the music. Thank You Scientist went on before us, and as you can imagine, I was impressed to say the least. They did the gig without their violinist actually, and maybe one other guy was missing too. Later that year our band disbanded, but three of us still got together to go see Thank You Scientist at a small joint in Teaneck, NJ called Mexicali Live. I think it was an album or EP release show. And I think it was shortly after that, our drummer from that band forced a burnt copy of Maps of Non-Existent Places on me. haha. It was good. I think he gave it to me in early 2012, long long long before the re-mix re-master was issued.
Good to see kids from around my neck of the woods blowin' up.
