DT Multi-Movement Songs - The Killing Hand (Round 1)
« on: November 08, 2012, 09:28:55 AM »
"The Killing Hand"
  I. The Observance         -  0:00
 II. Ancient Renewal         -  3:01
III. The Stray Seed         -  3:49
 IV. Thorns            -  4:51
  V. Exodus            -  6:13

Here we go with DT's first multi-movement epic. It's the shortest of the bunch, but nonetheless epic!

Going with Ancient Renewal.

I have no idea when each part begins and ends. I'll have to give it a listen with the timestamps in mind.

I have a question for the creator. Are we allowed to cast our votes keeping in mind a particular live performance or not? Because if I could refer to any live version between 1996 and today, part IV (Thorns) would rank considerably higher thanks to the extended instrumental section. So, what is to be done, M?

Typically, I go for the studio versions for all of my Survivors, especially in the cases of full albums where not every song gets played live. Also, the time-stamps listed for all of these Mutli-Movement Songs are refering to the studio versions of the songs. And while someone may have an attachment to a different version of the song, not everyone may have had the chance to listen to other versions of these songs - just the studio versions. To me, it would present an unfair advantage for some who use their exposure to different versions of songs to askew the results, which, to me, should only reflect opinions on the same version of a song - the studio one.
