Please, someone defend The Thing That Should Not Be, because I just can't.
Great song.  One of my favorites from MoP.

Too bad they butchered it on S&M.

You bastard!   ARRRGGG!!!

How can I possibly pick!   Just making me try to choose between these two has divided my very SOUL!!

I mean  KEA-RTL-MOP-AJFA vs. EP-Warning-RFO-OMC.

I'm not sure you can pick a winner.     Each string has one album that doesn't *quite* measure up to the other three (for me, this would be Warning and AJFA) while the other three are just non-stop perfection.

Rage for Order is the single greatest album of the eight...with MoP being a close second.

But at the end of the day, I guess I have to just barely give the nod to Metallica.    And yet, as soon as I say that I find myself leaning toward QR.

I'm going to have a very real schizophrenic argument with myself in a second.

QR...no Metallica...no QR...no Metallica.

Ok Queensryche.     but....well...   ARRRGGGGG!!!   I hate you!!

Queensryche.   That's my final answer.

*whew*

That seriously may have been the hardest musical decision I have ever made.

While both bands had phenomenal output in the 80's (and similarly went commercial, and then declined drastically in the 90's and afterword), for me, this is an easy choice:  Queensryche.  The sheer brilliance of Operation Mindcrime alone, my favourite album of the decade, goes far beyond anything Metallica accomplished IMO and makes this makes this an easy win for the 'Ryche in my mind.   Add to that the pure excellence of Rage For Order, The Warning, and the debut EP, and Queensryche's victory is further cemented for me.  Queensryche was so far ahead of the curve musically at the time, and their music was light-years beyond the edge of what any other band was doing in the period.  80's Metallica, while awesome it's own right, was really just an American version of NWOBHM (especially Motorhead and Daimondhead) on steroids.  QR is one of very few bands in the 80's that was truly unique, and not simply a re-tred or reinvention of something else, and the albums they put out in the 80's were records that no one else could have done.

At the end of the day I'd expect the forum to go Metallica, but I'm highly disappointed in how this isn't close. Both of these choices are phenomenal.

Metallica, by miles. They were never as good again, but man, what they released in the 80's was simply phenomenal.

I agree with everything you said about Queensruche, but you are way oversimplifying what Metallica did. They were more than retreading. They had a unique vision of where they wanted to take metal and were genre leaders, as were Queensryche.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Even though I love Queensryche and listen to them way more often than Metallica. I have to give it to Metallica.
