My guess is that the cable is what is still holding it up.

Its funny; no engineer ever designs for a "perfect" situation, not even for critical structures like Nuclear Reactors (Fukushima was a perfect combination of nature and back up systems failing; so laughably unlikely but it DID happen...) Makes one re-think the balance between progress and safety...

Not sure how mother nature can be overhyped. They know what it is and how dangerous it can be. The only questions are where and when. Maybe Katrina was underhyped cause it turned out to be much worse than anybody thought and they still didn't do anything about it. People should take it seriously cause you can never be too careful.

At my hotel, the wind has gotten pretty bad and occassionally I hear a very scarey whistling sound. Down at my apartment, I have word that the powerline came down from a falling tree right outside my building and power was already out there. The power in my hotel has flickered a bunch of times, but I got to think this place has a generator, but my company didn't exactly put me up in a 5 star hotel.
