I still have power, which is amazing. All of the power in my area comes from a long underground line from Jersey. It flashed off this morning, but it came back twenty minutes later. I'm even watching the Monday night game.

My girlfriend and I saw this from our window in Queens! We were looking out our window and I saw this intense prolonged flash. My gf thought it was lightning and I was like hell no. I said that's an explosion. Sure enough.

Honestly I think calling it a tragedy is too much, I have many friends in the area, and one lives right by the evacuation line, he took pictures of people running around in snorkels and armbands. Sure there's quite a bit of damage, and there have been a few deaths, but to call the whole storm a tragedy is a bit much.

I've heard a lot of different things from conspiracy theorists and now that all of these storms are actually starting to happen this is starting to bug me out a little.

So, somehow we didn't lose power. We can't get out of our neighborhood, though, as trees are down, blocking all the streets (and crushing cars, of course). The roads are all under driving ban, anyway.

Subway system is down for the foreseeable future...three rail yards underwater, seven tunnels flooded. Battery Tunnel is flooded "from end to end".

Power out for ~6 million people.

We'll see if the city is up and running for the weekend...

I'd like to think that if someone actually had that power they would use it for something more interesting than delaying an election.

I'm feeling very fortunate that we never lost power last night, though power did go out at the family business. Everything got moved into our walk in freezer and fridge Sunday night though, so hopefully they'll last long enough for the power to come back on. We're going to go out on a drive around town soon, I'll try to take some pictures.

A virtual non-event by the time it got inland to Central Ontario. Unusually high winds, handfuls of downed trees in the Toronto area, about 20,000 without power. Nothing too extreme. Just a really windy fall day.

Hope you NY/NJ folks can get shit straightened out asap.

Craziness. Hope everyone is okay and gets power back soon, etc. Got lots of reports from friends and family-
Mom still doesn't have power as far as I know. Tree fell on her house.
Brother in Philly suburbs has no power.
Friends in Hoboken are without power and flooded in.
Friend of a friend in Little Ferry lost house and everything to fire

Friend in Asbury evacuated to Philly for a few days (which apparently is totally fine- can anyone confirm this?).
Haven't heard from the folks in Long Island yet.
